Intern assignment
Describe the responsibilities and activities related to the Assignment. If relevant, relate these activities to the requirements for completion of the Internship as set by the Institute of Education. Include details of department where the Internship will be carried out.
The internship will take place within the Rotating Equipment Engineering department at Shell Pernis. The intern will perform a drive system scan of operational electrical drive systems above 15 kW. The assignment includes gathering and validating technical asset data, reviewing current operating conditions, and assessing where drive systems may offer energy-efficiency improvement potential. Based on this work, the intern will document the findings in a structured overview and prepare practical improvement options for further evaluation by the department.
Goals and objectives
Describe the purpose of the internship, including goals that are preferred to achieve.
The purpose of the internship is to support Shell Pernis in developing a substantiated basis for energy-efficiency improvements and CO₂ reduction within electrical drive systems. The main objectives are to create a reliable and reusable drive system database, develop a repeatable assessment approach, identify and prioritise technically and economically feasible improvement opportunities, and estimate the expected energy savings, CO₂ reduction and payback time. The outcome should provide clear recommendations that can be used as input for the Shell Pernis energy-efficiency programme.
