Pinchin is seeking an Intermediate/Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our Geotechnical team in our Kingston, or Ottawa office. The role reports to the Operations Manager.

Your Impact as an Intermediate/Senior Geotechnical Engineer

  • Perform Geotechnical engineering evaluations (e.g., soil and bedrock engineering design, slope stability analysis, earth retention systems, excavation, dewatering and shoring.)
  • Schedule assessments and meetings with clients/contractors
  • Assigning work to field staff as appropriate depending on workloads and in conjunction with the other Senior Managers
  • Prepare contract documents, proposals, and reports
  • Mentor, train and supervise junior field staff
  • Review written work of technical staff and provide feedback and guidance when needed
  • Meet with clients to determine project requirements and provide clients with advice on appropriate regulations and guidelines
  • Business development and marketing to new and existing clients

What You’ll Bring to Pinchin

The ideal candidate combines strong geotechnical engineering expertise with project management experience and demonstrates a genuine commitment to delivering better outcomes for clients, communities, and the environment.

  • University degree in Geotechnical, Civil or Geological Engineering or related degree and experience
  • 5+ years’ experience in a geotechnical engineering role
  • A Professional Engineering Designation in the Province of Ontario or be eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook), as well as geotechnical engineering software (slope stability, seepage, finite element programs, etc.)
  • Able to work closely with our project teams across the company where geotechnical support may be of assistance, such as Environmental Due Diligence and Remediation and Building Sciences
  • The ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from staff, clients and managers
  • Excellent technical writing skills for preparing geotechnical engineering reports and letters for clientele
  • Valid driver’s license insurance & personal vehicle is required (work-related travel expenses will be compensated)
