The Intermediate Software Engineer plays a key role in the design, development, enhancement, and support of Oracle EPM and Essbase applications. The role requires a solid software engineering foundation combined with growing Essbase, OLAP, and financial systems expertise. The incumbent works with increasing independence, applies structured SDLC practices, and contributes to platform stability, delivery throughput, and automation while continuing to deepen domain and platform knowledge.

Reporting to the IT Operations Technology Lead

Essbase & EPM Development

  • Design, develop, enhance, and maintain Essbase cubes, calculation logic, and Oracle EPM application components.

  • Implement and maintain Essbase calculation scripts, business rules, and automation artefacts under agreed standards.

  • Support BAU enhancements and approved project take-ons, ensuring production-ready delivery.

Production Stability & BAU Support

  • Proactively support platform stability by investigating incidents, resolving root causes, and reducing recurring issues.

  • Contribute to monitoring, reconciliation, and validation activities to ensure data accuracy and close-cycle reliability.

  • Participate in support rotations where required, focusing on incident reduction rather than reactive fixes.

Data, Integration & Automation

  • Write and troubleshoot SQL queries for data validation, reconciliation, and analysis.

  • Support or develop automation and integration components using Java or scripting tools.

  • Identify opportunities to reduce manual effort through automation and improved tooling.

Delivery & SDLC Contribution

  • Contribute to delivery planning, estimation, and dependency management.

  • Apply SDLC, change control, and release practices appropriate to enterprise financial systems.

  • Support testing activities across development, UAT, and production readiness phases.

Learning & Capability Growth

  • Actively deepen Essbase, OLAP, and EPM platform knowledge.
  • Demonstrate continuous learning and increasing technical ownership.

Qualification, Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 1–2 years’ hands‑on exposure to Oracle EPM / Essbase or equivalent OLAP platforms is advantageous, with a clear expectation to deepen capability on the platform.

  • Strong SQL skills for data analysis, validation, and troubleshooting.

  • Experience with Java or scripting languages used for automation or integration.

  • Understanding of multidimensional data models and calculation logic.
