Description of the company:

Our client is a Toronto residential interior design studio founded by a principal designer who spent over a decade with one of Canada's best-known design brands before launching the studio. The practice has grown into an experienced team working on full-home renovations, ground-up new builds, and large-scale furnishing and styling projects for private clients in Toronto and beyond. Their work blends traditional sensibilities with modern details, organic textures, and historical elements to create spaces that are warm and elevated, beautiful and livable. Client relationships sit at the centre of how the studio works, and the practice has attracted steady press and a growing roster of design-led clients.

Why is this role open:

The studio's project volume has grown steadily, and the team is adding an intermediate designer to support the senior designers on full-home projects and take ownership of the drawings, sourcing, and procurement work that keeps them moving.

Responsibilities:

• Support senior designers and the principal on full-home renovations, new builds, and furnishing projects from concept through installation.
• Produce drawing sets in AutoCAD or Revit: floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, elevations, millwork and cabinetry details, and finish schedules.
• Source and specify furniture, lighting, plumbing fixtures, tile, stone, hardware, and textiles, and build sample boards and client presentations.
• Manage FF&E schedules, quotes, purchase orders, and vendor follow-up through delivery and installation.
• Prepare 3D models and renderings for client presentations.
• Coordinate with contractors, millworkers, and trades; attend site meetings and document decisions.
• Support permit drawings and coordination with architects, engineers, and other consultants where required.
• Assist on installation and styling days.
• Keep project files, budgets, and schedules organized in the studio's project management tools.

Must-haves:

• Diploma or degree in Interior Design from an accredited program.
• 3 to 6 years of residential interior design experience in a studio setting, with full-home renovations or custom builds in your portfolio.
• Strong AutoCAD skills and the ability to produce clear, accurate millwork and construction drawings.
• Solid knowledge of residential materials, finishes, and construction detailing, including kitchens, bathrooms, cabinetry, and built-ins.
• Experience sourcing and managing FF&E, including trade vendors and procurement tracking.
• 3D modelling and rendering skills (SketchUp, Enscape, or similar) and comfort with Adobe Creative Suite.
• Organized and detail-oriented, and able to juggle several projects at once.
• A warm, professional manner with clients, trades, and vendors.
• Legally eligible to work in Canada, with a valid G licence for site and showroom visits.

Nice-to-haves:

• ARIDO registration, or NCIDQ in progress.
• Experience with custom furniture design, window treatments, or styling for photography.
• Familiarity with Studio Designer, Houzz Pro, or similar procurement software.
• Knowledge of the Ontario Building Code for residential renovations.
• Experience on high-end or heritage homes.

Work style:

Full-time, permanent, based in the Toronto studio with regular site, showroom, and vendor visits across the GTA. Collaborative team with close mentorship from senior designers and the principal.

Compensation Disclosure

Compensation for all roles Axis recruits for is multi-faceted and based on a range of factors including experience, skills, location, and internal equity. In addition to base salary, the total compensation package may include performance-based bonuses, incentives, and a comprehensive benefits offering, in accordance with applicable Employment Standards Act (ESA) requirements.
