The Opportunity

As a Front-End Software Engineer at Electrum, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our user-facing applications and setting the standard for front-end excellence. This unique role offers the opportunity to build a front-end function from the ground up, establishing processes, tooling, and culture for high-volume financial solutions. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate complex requirements into clean, scalable TypeScript and React code used by millions of South Africans daily. The Role

We’re looking for a Front-End Software Engineer to join our growing team at Electrum. In this role, you’ll design, develop, and maintain high-quality software applications that power real-world financial transactions at scale.

You’ll work across the full development lifecycle, from understanding requirements to building, testing, and deploying solutions while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams. This is an opportunity to contribute to meaningful products in a fast-paced FinTech environment.

Requirements

• 3+ years experience working as a developer in a software development team
• Modern SPA framework fluency — React, Angular, or Vue (React preferred)
• Advanced JavaScript / TypeScript skills (required)
• Solid client-side state management
• Design-system & reusable component library know-how
• REST/GraphQL (optional)
• CI/CD with automated tests and linting
• Performance, security, and accessibility best practices
• Experience operating enterprise-scale SPAs (feature flags, telemetry, observability).
