We’re looking for an experienced Intermediate Bookkeeper to support the Australian finance function of an established commercial and retail property group managing office, retail, and industrial assets across several states. In this role, you’ll handle daily transaction processing, bank and supplier reconciliations, intercompany schedules, and month-end support using Xero. You’ll work as part of a newly established offshore finance team alongside an experienced Lead Bookkeeper who will provide guidance and review your work, with support from the Australian finance function. This role is ideal for someone with solid Australian bookkeeping experience who is accurate, organised, comfortable following defined processes, and confident identifying and escalating variances when something doesn’t reconcile. What You’ll Do Process corporate accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions in Xero, ensuring transactions are accurately coded to the correct entity and account Process staff expense claims and corporate card transactions against supporting documentation Prepare payment runs and supporting documentation for review and approval by the Australian finance team Maintain accurate supplier and customer records in accordance with established verification requirements Prepare bank and supplier statement reconciliations across multiple entities, identifying and escalating differences for review Prepare balance sheet and intercompany reconciliation schedules, ensuring unmatched balances are clearly identified and followed up Assist with clearing reconciling items and provide supporting information for items requiring further investigation Prepare month-end working papers, including accruals, prepayments, and other supporting schedules Assist with compiling financial data for monthly management reporting and BAS preparation Maintain fixed asset registers, depreciation schedules, and other financial records as required Prepare supporting data and variance information for review, escalating unusual movements or discrepancies Follow documented finance procedures and maintain complete supporting evidence for all accounting activities Maintain working papers and financial documentation in the nominated system of record Identify process gaps, duplication, or manual workarounds and raise opportunities for improvement Support the Lead Bookkeeper and Australian finance team with ad hoc bookkeeping and accounting tasks as required Work within defined authority boundaries, ensuring approvals, payment releases, statutory lodgements, and final sign-offs remain with the Australian finance team Requirements What You Bring We’re looking for someone who: 2–4 years of experience in bookkeeping, accounts, or a related finance role Demonstrated working knowledge of Xero, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations Working understanding of Australian accounting practices, including GST treatment and BAS concepts Experience preparing reconciliations and supporting schedules, with strong attention to accuracy and detail Sound Excel capability, including lookups, pivot tables, and working with large data sets Experience supporting month-end processes, including accruals, prepayments, and working papers Clear written English suitable for communication with an Australian finance team and suppliers Accounting, finance, commerce, or related qualification, or equivalent demonstrated experience Ability to follow defined processes and instructions accurately, while escalating issues that require further review Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage routine and high-volume accounting tasks Demonstrated habit of investigating discrepancies and escalating items rather than carrying unresolved differences forward Xero certification is desirable Experience in the property, real estate, or construction sector is advantageous Exposure to Australian payroll concepts is desirable Experience with SharePoint or comparable document management systems is advantageous Discreet and professional when handling confidential financial information Collaborative mindset with a willingness to learn from and support the Lead Bookkeeper and Australian finance team Benefits Why You’ll Love Working Here HMO, dental, and life insurance for you and one free dependent from day one, with the option to add more.
