What You’ll Be Doing | He aha āu mahi

Looking for something different from a traditional BAS role or considering a move from audit? Join our International Financial Reporting (IFRS) Centre of Excellence and build specialist financial reporting expertise while working with a diverse range of clients and industries.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys technical accounting and wants to build specialist NZ IFRS expertise. You'll work on a diverse range of engagements, including:

  • Preparing financial statements, including both NZ IFRS and special purpose financial reports, across a range of industries.
  • Participating in short-term client secondments where specialist IFRS expertise is required
  • Supporting lease accounting engagements under IFRS 16
  • Preparing cash flow statements in accordance with IAS 7
  • Assisting with group consolidations under IFRS 10
  • Supporting business combination reporting and disclosures under IFRS 3
  • Assisting clients with first-time adoption of IFRS under IFRS 1
  • Providing technical accounting and financial reporting support
  • Assist with tax compliance and related compliance engagements where required

You'll work closely with managers and senior team members while progressively taking ownership of engagements and developing specialist technical skills. Through dedicated training, global Grant Thornton IFRS programmes and mentoring from experienced specialists, you'll build expertise that sets you apart in the market.

Requirements

About You | Mōu

You are a motivated accounting professional who enjoys technical problem-solving and has a genuine interest in financial reporting.

Ideally, you will have:

  • 1 to 2 years' experience within Chartered Accountancy, professional services, audit or financial reporting
  • Progress toward a CA ANZ, CPA or equivalent professional qualification
  • A strong interest in technical accounting and financial reporting standards
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Effective time management and organisational abilities
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel
  • A proactive mindset and desire to continuously learn

Experience preparing Tier 2 financial statements, participating in audit engagements or supporting IFRS-related projects would be advantageous but is not essential.
