We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Intermediate Accountant to join our Finance team. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, performing reconciliations, supporting month-end close activities, and assisting with financial reporting requirements. The successful candidate will work closely with field locations and internal stakeholders to ensure transactions are recorded accurately, issues are resolved promptly, and financial processes are executed efficiently. The salary range for this position is $65,000 - $70,000 annually.
Key Responsibilities
• Serve as a professional representative of the company when interacting with employees, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
• Maintain a strong focus on safety, customer service, accuracy, and operational efficiency.
• Perform store cash, till, Moneris, and gift card reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Prepare and maintain daily and monthly bank reconciliations across multiple accounts with high transaction volumes.
• Support Local Finance Representatives with cash management, till balancing, and point-of-sale (POS) related inquiries.
• Ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions within Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
• Review transactional data for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with established accounting policies and procedures.
• Support the Accounts Payable function by assisting with invoice processing, research, and issue resolution as required.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entry preparation and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Process and review employee expense reports through Concur.
• Prepare and process electronic payments through CIBC banking platforms.
• Prepare Eco Fee remittances and supporting documentation.
• Assist with internal and external audit requirements by providing supporting schedules and documentation.
• Prepare ad hoc financial reports and analysis for the Controller and Finance team.
• Participate in special projects and continuous process improvement initiatives as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications
• 2–5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a multi-location retail or distribution environment.
• Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com), or equivalent post-secondary education with a focus in Accounting.
• Experience working with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or a comparable ERP system.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including PivotTables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, formulas, and data analysis.
• Experience preparing bank reconciliations and working with high-volume transaction environments.
• Experience with Concur or similar expense management systems is considered an asset.
• Basic familiarity with Power BI, including the ability to navigate and refresh standard reports and dashboards, is considered an asset.
Physical requirements include:
• Sitting for long periods of time (80%).
• Using computer and related office equipment.
• Occasionally, will move about inside the office to access files, office machinery, etc.
