Job Description

Founded by Amherst, the full-service real estate solutions platform, Amherst StudioBuilt™ homes is an innovative approach to home development that utilizes offsite construction to create new housing supply at scale without sacrificing quality. StudioBuilt homes are constructed at Amherst’s housing studio in Cuero, Texas as well as partner studios across the Southeast and then installed on site. At full capacity, the Cuero facility will create over 250 manufacturing jobs, making Amherst the third largest employer in the area. The StudioBuilt team is comprised of experienced individuals from all trades, working to continuously improve the production process.

The Interior Finisher will performs skilled work in preparing surfaces for painting and in applying all types of paint to equipment, furniture, interiors, and exteriors of buildings by brush or spray gun. Will also finalize cabinets, wall trims.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Paint/Finish – Sand, prep, paint/stain
  • Doors – Hang doors & hardware
  • Wall Base – install
  • Cabinets- install
  • Work within a team environment

Responsibilities

  • Trim rough edges from wall to maintain even joints, fit and fasten wallboard or sheetrock into specified position
  • Measure and mark cutting lines on framing and trim
  • Assemble and install and decorative trim for windows, doorways and vents
  • Read blueprints and other specifications to determine method of installation, work procedures, material, and tool requirement
  • Cut metal or wood framing, angle and channel iron, and trim to size, using cutting tools
  • Inspect furring’s, mechanical mountings, and masonry surface for plumbness and level, using spirit or water level
  • Attach framing to floor using powder actuated fasteners or screws
  • Frame for openings for mechanical and other openings in accordance with structural drawings
  • Install door jambs in framing as required
  • Install access panels in framing, black iron ceiling systems, grid ceiling systems, drywall, sheathing or cement board in accordance with specifications or local building codes
  • Install flashing at windows and doors and sound and fire caulking as required< li>
  • Complete other responsibilities as assigned

Required Skills and Experience

  • High School Diploma
  • 3-year relevant work experience
  • Able to follow instructions, written and verbal
  • Follow all safety practices
  • Able to work in a manufacturing environment including the physical demands of the job
  • Able to lift 75lbs
  • Able to stand for 8+ hours to accomplish work tasks
  • Able to use the tools and processes for the role
  • Requires good manual dexterity (hand, arm, and multi-limb coordination)
  • Able to work overtime as scheduled

Work Environment

  • While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member may be exposed to noise, wood products, plastics, lubricants moving mechanical parts and vibration.

Physical Demands

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 75 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
