Interior Designer

Location: Dallas, Texas

The Interior Designer is responsible for ensuring that the interior design of a project enhances the concept and story of the project through spatial quality and materiality. He/she will work collaboratively with the Project Designer as well as other members of the project team in leading the development of interior design and selection of furniture, fixtures, and equipment. This individual often takes on a leadership role within his/her projects and managing project teams.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • In the pre-design phase, assist in leading the “breaking of the bread” meeting, helping to inspire the client and drive the visioning process.
  • Conduct advanced research and analysis on current design trends, materials, and furnishings to present innovative ideas and solutions.
  • Develop, create, and refine interior design concepts through images, sketches, models, diagrams, and renderings.
  • Collaborate with the Project Designer to co-lead the development of floor plans, furniture layouts, and room arrangements to maximize function and aesthetics.
  • Oversee the selection of materials, finishes, furniture, and lighting solutions that align with design intent and budget.
  • Lead the creation of material boards and presentations that align with design intent and client requirements.
  • Implement sustainable design principles into the interior design whenever possible.
  • Uphold Pfluger documentation standards and incorporate redlines into project revisions. Perform quality control checks when necessary.
  • Partner with the project team to gain an in-depth understanding and coordinate specifications for each project.
  • Maintain and apply an understanding of codes and regulations to assure project compliance. Advise junior team members as needed.
  • Attend and contribute to client meetings, site visits, and client interviews. Manage client communications and respond to project requirements, maintaining high client satisfaction throughout a project.
  • Collaborate closely with architects, consultants, industry representatives, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment between interior design elements and architectural plans.
  • Oversee project timelines and interior design budgets. Ensure coordination with vendors and contractors results in timely procurement and installation of materials and furnishings.
  • Lead internal design reviews and pin ups, seeking and providing feedback and guidance to improve design solutions and elevate overall project quality.
  • Maintain and update the materials library when necessary.
  • Identify and strategically curate presentations with architecture & design industry partners and representatives as needed.
  • Participate in and lead one or more project teams, ensuring effective collaboration throughout all project phases.
  • Serve as a key leader within the organization, contributing to strategic initiatives and the advancement of the firm.
  • Participate in Pfluger’s recruitment processes. Interview potential new team members and contribute to hiring decisions as assigned by the Senior Interior Designer (People Leader), Managing Principal, or Studio Leader.
  • Coach and support junior staff, providing guidance and fostering a culture of collaboration and professional development in technical skills. Support interior design staff in pursuit of licensure and provide opportunities to earn work experience hours.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Alignment with Pfluger’s purpose of “ inspiring people to create a more meaningful human experience,” with a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
  • Professional degree in Interior Design or Architecture is required.
  • Licensed Interior Designer in the state of Texas is required.
  • Proficiency in the following software: Revit, Enscape, Bluebeam, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office products.
  • Working knowledge of the following software: Dynamo.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in projects of above-average size and complexity, historically ensuring creative excellence, accuracy, and timely delivery.
  • Extensive knowledge of design principles, practices, and how to apply current codes.
  • Extensive knowledge of construction documentation and an understanding of construction administration.
  • Extensive experience selecting finishes and furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E) to create a cohesive, functional, and aesthetically pleasing environment that aligns with project goals and budget.
  • Strong project-level leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate and build positive relationships both internally and externally.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage complex projects simultaneously.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to succeed in a collaborative environment.
  • Ability and prior experience overseeing and guiding project teams.
  • Experience in educational design is preferred.
  • Minimum of six years of relevant interior design experience.

Location:

The Interior Designer must be prepared to commute 3 days per week to Pfluger’s local office and as required to Pfluger’s other offices.
