Interim Head of FP&A & Strategic Planning

Join us as a Interim Head of FP&A & Strategic Planning
The Interim Head of FP&A & Strategic Planning will
provide senior leadership across financial planning, budgeting and strategic
decision support during a critical period of business planning and
transformation.
The role is accountable for leading the annual budgeting
process, developing the long-range financial plan and enhancing the quality of
financial insight available to Executive and Board stakeholders. Working across
Finance, Commercial, Technology and Network functions, the role will translate
business strategy into financial outcomes, ensuring investment decisions are
supported by robust analysis, effective capital allocation and a clear focus on
value creation.
The role will establish a strong planning framework, deliver
a credible financial narrative and strengthen the organisation's ability to
make informed strategic decisions.

What else it involves:

  • Enterprise Planning & Budget Leadership
  • Lead the development and delivery of the annual budget across all business functions.
  • Drive a robust forecasting process that identifies risks, opportunities and performance drivers.
  • Ensure financial plans are aligned to strategic priorities, investment objectives and business targets.
  • Quantify the financial implications of strategic choices, presenting clear options, trade-offs, and recommendations to senior Leaders
  • Deliver high-quality financial outputs to support Executive and Board decision-making.
  • Produce clear Board Ready financial outputs, including budget packs, variance analysis, and key assumptions
  • Long-Range Financial Planning
  • Develop and maintain an integrated long-range financial plan aligned to organisational strategy.
  • Translate commercial, customer, technology and network priorities into financial outcomes.
  • Lead scenario planning to assess strategic options, risks and opportunities.
  • Identify funding requirements, investment priorities and long-term value drivers.
  • Strategic Insight & Investment Decision Support
  • Provide financial leadership and insight to support key strategic initiatives and business decisions.
  • Evaluate major investment opportunities through robust business case development and investment appraisal.
  • Assess value creation, financial returns and strategic trade-offs to support decision-making.
  • Deliver clear recommendations that balance commercial ambition with financial discipline.
  • Executive & Board Reporting
  • Develop clear and compelling financial narratives for Executive Leadership Team and Board audiences.
  • Translate complex financial information into meaningful business insights and recommendations.
  • Ensure reporting clearly articulates performance, risks, opportunities and future outlook.
  • Business Partnering & Stakeholder Management
  • Partner with senior leaders across Finance and the wider business to support planning and performance management.
  • Challenge assumptions and provide independent financial perspective where required.
  • Drive alignment across Finance Business Partners to ensure a consistent financial narrative.
  • Planning Governance & Capability
  • Strengthen planning governance, processes and financial controls.
  • Drive consistency across budgeting, forecasting and performance management activities.
  • Promote data-driven decision-making and financial accountability throughout the organisation.

The Skills were looking for:

Essential

  • 8 to 10 years FP&A leadership experience within telecommunications or a similarly complex, capital-intensive environment.
  • Proven track record leading enterprise budgeting, forecasting and long-range planning processes.
  • Strong experience supporting Executive Leadership Teams and Board-level decision-making.
  • Advanced financial modelling, scenario planning and investment appraisal expertise.
  • Ability to translate complex financial information into clear commercial insight.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing capability.
  • Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).

Desirable

  • Experience within telecommunications, technology, infrastructure or network-based organisations.
  • Experience supporting large-scale transformation or investment programmes.
