Job Description

We are seeking a caring and qualified individual to serve as Director of Housekeeping.The ideal candidate will be thorough and meticulous and will pay extraordinary attention to detail in maintaining the highest standards of housekeeping excellence at our beautiful and luxurious community of The Bristal Assisted Living at Lynbrook.

The Director of Housekeeping is a working supervisor role. You will be responsible for planning, organizing, developing and directing overall Housekeeping and Laundry operations in compliance with all government and company standards and guidelines. In this position, you will be required to inspect, maintain and assure that the highest degree of resident quality and comfort is achieved at all times.

Schedule:Tuesday- Saturday 9am-5:30pm

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Scheduling team members to ensure sufficient service and coverage while ensuring working hours remain within budget
  • Hiring and scheduling team members of the Housekeeping Department (Housekeepers, Porters and Laundry Assistants)
  • Inspecting and evaluating the physical condition of all areas of the building and coordinating with the Maintenance Department for any needed repairs
  • Inspecting all work in progress completed by team members or external contractors, while maintaining cleanliness checklists
  • Training team members and providing monthly in-services support for staff
  • Maintaining strict inventory levels and ordering supplies as needed
  • Keeping all files and records consistent with the seamless functioning of the department
  • Performing regular inspections of resident apartments and areas for sanitation, safety and proper performance of assigned tasks
  • Overseeing the shampooing of rugs for both resident and common areas
  • Performing cleaning tasks in times of emergency or team member shortages
  • Ensuring proper safety and security regarding resident belongings and items used in executing housekeeping and laundry functions

Full-time schedule requires working one weekend day per week (Tues-Sat).

Qualifications:

  • Two (2) years’ experience as a supervisor in housekeeping and laundry operations
  • Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Possess leadership abilities and have good communication skills
  • Ability to converse with team members, residents and their families in English
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus
