Posting Summary:
The Klingenstein Center is seeking an Interim Communications Assistant to help shape and amplify the center's digital presence through engaging digital communications and social media initiatives.
Basic Function:
The Communications Assistant will play a key role in shaping and amplifying the Klingenstein Center’s digital presence via digital and social media. This is a hands-on, hybrid opportunity for a creative and strategic thinker interested in storytelling, content creation, and audience engagement.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in the development and implementation of a social media strategy that promotes the Klingenstein Center to key audiences.
- Maintain, use, and build upon an archive of video, photo, and text content.
- Create and post content across social media platforms (e.g., Instagram, LinkedIn)
- Monitor social media to like, repost, and comment where appropriate.
- Collaborate with staff to highlight key moments, individuals, and themes.
- Work with alumni and volunteers to solicit content and help to amplify messaging.
- Analyze engagement and adjust strategy to maximize reach and impact for both organic and sponsored audiences.
- Assist with other digital communications, such as writing, proofreading, creating graphics, and writing content for email marketing and web pages.
- Other tasks as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- Ability to handle and protect confidential and sensitive data with integrity
- Must be able to analyze data, and prepare reports
- Ability to learn new software and research techniques as needed
- Ability to think critically and propose innovative ideas
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office & Google Workspace
- Strong interpersonal, collaborative, presentation, and communication skills
- Excellent time management and organizational skills, including detail orientation, multi-tasking, ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to complete assigned projects with minimal supervision
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with social media, marketing, and/or communications (experience in educational or non-profit organization is a plus).
- Content creation skills, including video, photography, and design. (expertise with Canva, Adobe Suite, Google Suite, and Monday.com is a plus).
- Experience developing data-informed social media strategy including organic and sponsored content.
- Excellent writing, proofing, and storytelling skills.
- Ability to work both collaboratively and independently in a fast-paced, hybrid environment.
- Organized, proactive, and detail-oriented.
- Prior experience as an administrative assistant.
- Prior experience with supporting complex operations and staff members at an academic and research center.
- Prior experience with academic and/or student program support
- Ability to be proactive, to anticipate and take the initiative to fulfill Center needs
Salary Range:
$18 - $18 (per hour)
