Job Description

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in North Yorkshire to assist with the appointment of an Interim Bus Systems and Technology Specialist, on a 3-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay £394.23 - £499.00 per day

The Interim Bus Systems and Technology Specialist will work closely with YNYCA, City of York Council and North Yorkshire Council to understand existing systems, develop detailed transition plans and ensure all systems and technologies are successfully transitioned by the end of March 2027 without any degradation to public-facing services.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop a detailed understanding of existing bus-related transport technology systems across YNYCA and its partner authorities.
  • Oversee the transition of bus systems and technologies into the Combined Authority.
  • Identify and assess existing systems, technologies, licences, support arrangements and associated officer resources.
  • Develop a detailed transition plan for each system to ensure availability to the Combined Authority Bus Team from April 2027 onwards.
  • Identify ongoing system costs, including licences, helpdesk support and staffing requirements, to support YNYCA's long-term funding plans.
  • Identify where new ICT resources, including servers, systems and professional staff, are required.

Essentials

  • Extensive professional experience working with bus systems and technologies
  • Significant experience working for a bus industry employer, local transport authority or bus operator.
  • Experience delivering complex technology and systems projects within fast-paced environments.
  • Experience managing multiple workstreams simultaneously.
  • Experience working with local authority technology specialists and external system/software suppliers.
