Your Opportunity

Are you passionate about empowering families and driving sustainable change? Join our welcoming team in Deception Bay as an Intensive Family Support Practitioner, where your expertise in supporting families with high and complex needs will be valued and embraced.

You’ll play a key role in helping families reduce their interaction with the statutory child protection system through early intervention and prevention strategies. This service supports families with children aged 0–18 who are at risk of entering Child Safety Services, aiming to improve the safety and wellbeing of vulnerable children.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage with families to develop tailored plans for long-term positive outcomes.
  • Use creative strategies to engage resistant clients at risk.
  • Build strong partnerships with other services to support client engagement.
  • Deliver case management including reviews, reporting, and administration.
  • Provide therapeutic interventions aligned with case plans.
  • Support clients in transitioning out of the service.

Requirements for Success

  • Degree or qualification in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, or related field.
  • Experience in child protection, youth work, or out-of-home care.
  • Strong crisis management and risk assessment skills.
  • Ability to build rapport and work respectfully with diverse families.
  • Skilled in planning and delivering intervention strategies.
  • Case management experience using trauma-informed, strengths-based approaches.
  • Strong administrative and documentation skills.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing abilities.
  • Commitment to professional boundaries, integrity, and ethical standards.

You will need to hold a degree in Social Work, Social Sciences, Psychology or a similar field; have a valid First Aid Certificate and hold a current Blue Card and Queensland Drivers Licence.

Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
