Project Overview:

Mining and Metals:

Increasing production of critical minerals provides key components of clean energy technologies, from wind turbines to batteries. This shift to clean energy—and the need for commodities—is critical to underpinning the energy transition. At Bechtel, our teams extract these vital resources to support net zero in a way which is more sustainable than ever before.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will coordinate and facilitate the multidisciplinary integration of engineering between the different disciplines of the project and the participating organizations, ensuring the correct technical interaction, the consistency of the deliverables and the fulfillment of the objectives of scope, deadline, quality and constructability during the development of engineering.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Coordinating the interaction between the different engineering disciplines involved in the project.
  • Managing the technical interfaces between internal teams, contractors, consultants and other stakeholders.
  • Leading interdisciplinary coordination meetings for the identification and timely resolution of interferences, incompatibilities and design risks.
  • Following up on the actions derived from design reviews, constructability reviews, risk workshops and interface reviews.
  • Ensuring the alignment of engineering deliverables with design criteria, customer requirements and applicable standards.
  • Coordinating the integration of feedback from the client, contractors and technical specialists.
  • Monitoring the progress of engineering coordination and integration activities, identifying deviations and proposing mitigation plans.
  • Supporting the preparation of design reviews, technical coordination meetings and decision-making processes related to critical interfaces.
  • Ensuring the proper management and control of the interfaces between the different areas of the project.
  • Promoting the implementation of good engineering, quality and safety practices during design development.
  • Developing and maintain records of interfaces and interdependencies between disciplines.
  • Coordinating the resolution of interdisciplinary observations and comments.
  • Reviewing the technical consistency of 3D models, diagrams, plans and multidisciplinary documents.
  • Participating in design reviews, HAZOP, Constructability Reviews, Model Reviews and other engineering quality assurance processes.
  • Generating periodic reports on the status of critical project interfaces and coordination.
  • Coordinating the implementation of technical agreements derived from integration meetings.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires a degree in Civil Engineering (or international equivalent) or execution in specialties related to the development of industrial, mining or infrastructure projects and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.
  • Role requires experience in engineering coordination on large-scale projects; experience in EPC, EPCM or Owner's Team projects; experience in mining processing projects, infrastructure or industrial services is desirable; experience in multidisciplinary coordination and integration of technical interfaces.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Management and integration of multidisciplinary engineering.
  • Management of technical interfaces.
  • Coordination of design reviews.
  • Control and follow-up of technical commitments.
  • Knowledge of engineering processes in FEL, EPC and construction phases.
  • Management of collaborative document management tools and monitoring of actions.
