Job Description
Location: Singapore Changi, Singapore
Thales is a global technology leader trusted by governments, institutions, and enterprises to tackle their most demanding challenges. From quantum applications and artificial intelligence to cybersecurity and 6G innovation, our solutions empower critical decisions rooted in human intelligence. Operating at the forefront of aerospace and space, cybersecurity and digital identity, we’re driven by a mission to build a future we can all trust.
In Singapore, Thales has been a trusted partner since 1973, originally focused on aerospace activities in the Asia-Pacific region. With 2,000 employees across three local sites, we deliver cutting-edge solutions across aerospace (including air traffic management), defence and security, and digital identity and cybersecurity sectors. Together, we’re shaping the future by enabling customers to make pivotal decisions that safeguard communities and power progress.
The role ensures that appropriate verification and validation methods, test strategies and engineering practices are applied to demonstrate compliance with defined system requirements, performance criteria and quality standards, while optimising test effort, resources and project schedules.
The IVVQ Engineer will work closely with IVVQ management, Project Engineers, software and systems engineering teams, customers and other stakeholders throughout the system development lifecycle. The role includes developing system test plans and reports, managing test resources, identifying and managing defects, supporting engineering changes, and contributing to project planning, estimation and bid activities.
The role requires the ability to work effectively with geographically distributed teams and may involve international travel, including travel to Europe for approximately two weeks per quarter, subject to project requirements.
Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate and execute Integration, Verification, Validation and Qualification (IVVQ) activities in accordance with project requirements, schedules and quality standards.
- Define appropriate test strategies, verification methods, test approaches, tools and practices based on system requirements and project objectives.
- Develop, maintain and execute system test plans, test cases, test procedures and test reports.
- Ensure IVVQ activities provide appropriate coverage of system requirements, interfaces, operational scenarios and relevant performance criteria.
- Review previous verification and validation activities on comparable systems and apply relevant lessons learned to optimise test coverage and effort.
- Conduct functional, system, user-scenario, regression and integration testing as appropriate.
- Develop and execute manual and automated test activities where appropriate.
- Review and interpret system and software requirements and establish appropriate verification methods and acceptance criteria.
- Maintain traceability between requirements, test cases, test results and identified defects.
- Identify ambiguous, incomplete or difficult-to-verify requirements and work with relevant engineering teams to resolve them.
- Identify, document, reproduce, characterise and track defects through the appropriate defect-management process.
- Support defect investigation, corrective actions, engineering changes and regression testing.
- Work closely with the IVVQ Manager and Project Engineers to agree on testing schedules, durations, resource requirements, dependencies and project risks.
- Efficiently manage test resources, including personnel, test environments, software, hardware and laboratory facilities.
- Coordinate IVVQ activities across multidisciplinary and geographically distributed teams.
- Participate in test readiness reviews, technical reviews, defect reviews and customer acceptance activities.
- Communicate test progress, results, risks, issues and recommendations to project teams and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with customers, software developers, systems engineers and other stakeholders to understand requirements and acceptance criteria.
- Support troubleshooting of software, hardware, networking and IT-related issues encountered during integration and testing.
- Contribute to IVVQ effort estimation, project planning, work-package management and resource planning.
- Participate in bid and proposal activities by providing IVVQ scope, methodology, resource estimates, schedules, assumptions and cost inputs.
- Identify opportunities to improve test efficiency, repeatability, automation and overall verification effectiveness.
- Coordinate activities with global project teams and support international project requirements.
- Travel internationally, including to Europe, when required by project activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience in systems integration, verification, validation, qualification, testing or a related engineering discipline.
- Demonstrated experience working in an Integration, Verification and Validation environment involving complex or large-scale integrated systems.
- Working knowledge of configuration management, deployment and infrastructure technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, Puppet or Chef.
- Experience developing and executing system-level test plans, test cases, test procedures and test reports.
- Practical experience in functional testing, system testing, user-scenario testing and regression testing.
- Experience with defect reporting, characterisation, tracking and management using commonly adopted defect-management tools.
- Ability to read, interpret and analyse system and software requirements and translate them into effective verification and validation activities.
- Working knowledge of Unix/Linux and/or Android environments.
- Basic troubleshooting skills across software, hardware, networking and IT environments.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and technical communication skills.
- Good project planning, coordination and organisational skills.
- Ability to work independently and effectively within multidisciplinary and geographically distributed teams.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliverables in a project environment.
- Willingness and ability to travel internationally in accordance with project requirements, including periodic travel to Europe.
- Experience integrating software and hardware systems and coordinating activities across system interfaces and external dependencies.
