What you will do

The Integrated Solutions Service Tech 1 is responsible for several duties within the Johnson Controls Sustainable Infrastructure ICAT (Information, Communication, Automation, Technology) team, which are encompassed within first-level technical support and troubleshooting of various building systems.

How you will do it

  • Assist the ICAT team with installing, configuring, deploying, maintaining, and troubleshooting building systems that fall under the team’s shared responsibility.
  • Escalate unresolved issues to senior technicians or specialized teams as needed.
  • Install, configure, harden, update, and maintain Windows and Linux-based operating systems, applications, and software patches.
  • Assist with the maintenance of the asset/software inventory and system documentation for all building systems.
  • Troubleshoot common network issues such as network jack and wireless connectivity. Verify network cabling and device connections.
  • Perform daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual preventative maintenance tasks that are assigned to you including health checks, software patching, backups, generating reports, system upgrades, etc.
  • Assist with creating and maintaining disaster recovery and business continuity practices and documentation.
  • Follow incident management procedures and log all work completed in the IT ticketing system. Work with stakeholders to perform efficient and effective troubleshooting of issues, perform root cause analysis studies, and recommend system improvements to reduce incident occurrences.
  • Follow IT service management (ITSM) processes such as incident and request handling.
  • Emphasis is on maintaining the highest level of system uptime and timely response to issues.
  • Ongoing skills development through attending training sessions or completing technical certifications.
  • Provide professional and customer‑focused support experience. Work collaboratively with other IT staff and departments.
  • Comply with all Johnson Controls safety policies and procedures. Comply with all company policies and procedures and adhere to company standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What we look for

Required

  • Completion of an associate’s degree in computer science, information technology, or equivalent field.
  • On-site attendance Monday to Friday.
  • Must be able to work varying shifts and overtime as required.
  • Must be able to travel to multiple work locations when required.
  • Participate in a rotating on-call schedule.
  • Must be able to pass provincial and federal criminal record check and subject interview.
  • Must be physically able to perform basic maintenance tasks, which includes ability to climb ladders, use hand tools, lift heavy objects with assistance, etc.
  • Must be able to self-manage and prioritize tasks effectively. Must have a strong sense of accountability and ability to deliver on goals.
  • Excellent communication, information gathering, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent time management skills and punctuality.

Preferred

  • Familiarization with cybersecurity best practices and hardening techniques with regards to Windows and Linux.
  • History of attaining, or a plan to attain, the CompTIA A+ certification.
  • History of attaining, or a plan to attain, the CompTIA Network+ certification (or equivalent).
  • History of attaining, or a plan to attain, the ITIL v3/v4/v5 Foundation certification.

HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $27.6-38.4 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.) This position includes a competitive benefits package. The posted salary range reflects the target compensation for this role.
