Job Description
Location: Leeuwarden, Friesland, Netherlands
As an Integrated Safety Advisor, you support the program team and Technical Manager in implementing and safeguarding safety across all project phases. You ensure that safety standards, regulations, and best practices are applied and embedded within both design and execution processes.
You act as the central point of contact for safety-related topics within the project team and serve as a key advisor in interactions with contractors and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Promote and embed safety objectives within the project/program
Identify safety risks, deviations, and propose appropriate solutions
Apply relevant laws, regulations, and safety frameworks
Review and assess designs, plans, and deliverables for safety compliance
Support both planning/design and execution phases of projects
Assist in preparing for procurement and contract phases
Monitor contractor compliance with safety requirements and plans
Contribute to risk management processes, including maintaining risk files
Support audits, inspections, and safety reviews
Organize and participate in safety walks
Report and manage incidents involving project stakeholders
Advise project team members on safety-related topics
Escalate safety issues when necessary
Key Deliverables
Safety input and guidance across all project phases
Contributions to risk assessments and safety documentation
Support in safety audits, inspections, and reviews
Ongoing safety advisory to project leadership and stakeholders
Required Qualifications & Experience (Must-Have)
Completed Higher Safety Engineering (HVK) qualification
Minimum 7 years of experience in maintenance and renovation projects within civil engineering and/or movable bridges
At least 3 years of experience in developing and influencing safety culture within project organizations
Minimum 3 years of experience applying occupational safety laws and regulations independently
At least 3 years of experience as a safety advisor on the client side
Strong proficiency in Dutch
Preferred Experience
Experience with renovation and renewal of movable bridges
Knowledge of multiple safety domains, including:
Nautical safety
Traffic safety
Structural safety
Machine safety
Experience with large lifting operations (e.g., from pontoons)
Knowledge of occupational safety related to Chromium VI
