Position Purpose summary: Actively serving within the Ministry Unit’s (MU) management team, offers leadership and oversight for all Community Services (CS) operations and mission partners (direct reports), aligned and integrated with the MU’s mission priorities and strategic planning and development.
ACCOUNTABILITIES: The incumbent may perform all, some, or similar range of duties.
Ensure that the gospel of Jesus Christ is exemplified in the performance of all job responsibilities and through personal example
Support the vision, values and mission of The Salvation Army
Serve actively as a member of the MU management team
Participate in strategic planning and development for the MU, ensuring CS’s is meeting strategic goals and outcomes and that mission is integrated across the MU (church and community)
Pray and share the gospel of Jesus Christ with guests, staff, and volunteers, endevouring to assimilate them to become part of the Body of Christ, as appropriate (including linking to the church family and church programs where possible)
Coordinate and support fundraising efforts, seasonal programs, Kettle Campaign, food and donation drives, Christmas Assistance, summer camps, community meals, church programming, Emergency Disaster Services; providing leadership for CS’s and offering support in initiatives led by management team/members
Assist and/or support Corp Officer with planning, leading and facilitating church programming (e.g., Evangelism (Alpha) and Outreach, Adult Fellowship, Children & Youth, Bible Studies, Discipleship programming, Sunday morning worship and Partners in Mission campaign) meeting the integrated mission objectives of the MU
Make recommendations and actively participate with management team in development and implantation of a Community Council
Develop and implement a program plan for CS’s that integrates with MU’s missional objectives, with a clear spiritual focus and missional impact identified
Ensure program plan and all operations of CS’s meet contractual, legal and internal accreditation requirements
Direct and supervise staff, participating in hiring, onboarding, training, evaluation and discipline; ensure employee safety in compliance with health & safety standards, monitors and analyzes incident reports
Approve staff absences (sickness, vacation, etc.) in HR system
Oversee case management, providing direction in operations while maximizing missional impact in all programming including additionally: emergency assistance, community referrals and donations (material and financial)
Ensure accurate collection and maintenance of data, ensuring privacy requirements, and using statistical reports to create Annual Impact Reports that communicate stories of impact and outcomes.
Prepares and submits reports, proposals, program evaluations and/or business plans as requested by internal or external sources; maintains confidentiality of all client and staff records and statistical data
Respond to and address any complaints or concerns, bringing to management team’s attention as needed
Responsible for ongoing asset mapping, networking and partnership at the community level (including participation in various committees) as a representative of The Salvation Army
Identify and implement effective practices for risk management
Actively participate in the upkeep of the fire safety plan, ensuring full compliance, record keeping is accurate, all preventative measures are routinely conducted, and risk management recommendations are identified and shared with the management team
Support in the development of the annual budget for the MU
Monitor and review revenues and expenses, as assigned by the Corps Officer
Identify appropriate plans/strategies for revenue shortfalls and expense overruns
Performs other work-related duties as assigned
FINANCIAL AND MATERIAL MANAGEMENT
WORKING CONDITIONS:
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Completion of a formal post-secondary/college program of 2-3 academic years in a related field (e.g., Social Work, Leadership, Biblical Studies or practical ministry experience) or equivalent; a combination of equivalent education and experience may be considered
Proven leadership experience, including 3+ years leadership of direct report staff.
Education, Qualifications and Certifications:
Food Safe Level 1, CPR, First Aid, WHIMIS and Non-Violent Crisis Training or willingness to complete once hired.
Able to handle physical demands, which may include lifting/carrying items more than 40 pounds
Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
Experience and Knowledge:
Up to five years of related supervisory/ team lead experience.
Strong computer skills and experience using Microsoft Office Suite
Proven ability to manage, coach and motivate.

Ability and willingness to help, support, respect, and work with people from diverse backgrounds, faith and walks of life
Ability and willingness to respect, promote, support, and uphold the vision, values, and mission of The Salvation Army
Compensation:
The target hiring range for this position is $58,531.20 to $73,174.40 with a maximum of $87,817.60.
Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
