Performs a multi-skilled role which combines out-patient administrative services in the following areas: patient check-in and check-out, patient scheduling, securing treatment pre-certification authorization from insurance providers, arranging patient prescription refill authorizations, and responding to patient phone calls. What you will do

  • Greets patient and/or patient’s representative. Maintains responsibility for activities related to patient admission, registration, discharges and transfers.
  • Assist with patient check-in and check-out.
  • Performs receptionist duties for department.
  • Performs other job functions.


Education/Formal Training Requirements

  • Required - High School Diploma or Equivalent


Work Experience Requirements

  • Required - Healthcare or medical office environment 1-3 years


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology and ICD & CPT codes.
  • Strong knowledge insurance authorization process and procedures.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).
  • Ability to set priorities, coordinate and organize multiple tasks, maintain efficient workflow, and work without close supervision.
  • Ability to handle emotional or stressful situations in relationship to patients in acute distress or medical crisis.


Supervision Provided by this Position

  • There are no supervisory or lead responsibilities assigned to this position.


Physical Demands

  • The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
  • Must have good balance and coordination.
  • The physical requirements of this position are: light work - exerting up to 25 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently.
  • The Associate is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity, such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading.
  • The conditions to which the Associate will be subject in this position: The Associate is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions; job functions are typically performed under conditions such as those found in general office or administrative work.
