We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Insurance Verification Specialist to join our healthcare team. In this role, you will be responsible for verifying patient insurance coverage, ensuring accurate billing processes, and supporting our commitment to providing exceptional patient care. Key Responsibilities:

- Verify patient insurance coverage and benefits prior to service delivery

- Obtain and document insurance information accurately from patients and insurance providers

- Review and interpret insurance policies to determine coverage and authorization requirements

- Communicate effectively with patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers regarding coverage and authorization issues

- Assist with resolving insurance-related billing discrepancies and denials

- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of insurance policies, procedures, and industry regulations

- Ensure compliance with all privacy and confidentiality standards related to patient information

Skills and Qualifications:

- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in healthcare administration or insurance preferred

- Proven experience in insurance verification, billing, or related healthcare roles

- Strong understanding of insurance plans, coding, and billing procedures

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- Attention to detail and strong organizational abilities

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment

- Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) systems and billing software

Requirements

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum one (1) year of insurance verification, patient access, registration, medical billing, or healthcare revenue cycle experience preferred.
  • Experience verifying commercial, Medicare, Medicaid, and managed care insurance plans preferred.
  • Behavioral health experience strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of prior authorization processes and payer guidelines preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and electronic health record systems.
  • Athenahealth experience is preferred but not required.

Working Conditions
