Organization:

SHSO-Sutter Health System Office-ValleyWorking as part of the Insurance Finance team and collaboratively with departments across the organization, this position will be responsible for the implementation of certain system-wide commercial lines of property and casualty insurance for Sutter Health.

Builds and oversees insurance programs that may include property, automobile, pollution legal liability, cyber/privacy, managed care liability, directors and officers liability, employment practices liability, excess workers' compensation, fiduciary, crime, aviation, medical professional liability, and other lines of insurance as assigned based on knowledge and experience.

Experience in property, construction, builders' risk, and owner-controlled insurance programs (OCIP) specifically desired. Familiarity with captives and self-insurance preferred.

Responsible for preparing renewal specifications & evaluating quotes, reviewing policy language, budgeting, evaluating adequate limits & retentions, claims coordination & support, participating in underwriter meetings, and other duties as required to ensure insurance policies are renewed timely and effectively.

Identifies risk, develops pro-active risk management programs and offers recommendations to mitigate risk or loss throughout the organization. Reviews & negotiates contract language related to insurance and indemnification.

This is a hybrid role with at least two days a week in office (Sacramento).

EDUCATION:
Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.

  • Bachelor's in Accounting, Business, Finance, or related field


TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:​

  • 5 years recent relevant experience


SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Advanced knowledge of of commercial property & casualty insurance, data analysis, developing data models and reporting.
  • Working knowledge of contract provisions as related to indemnification clauses and insurance contracts.
  • Solid understanding of financial planning, analysis and budgeting process.
  • General understanding of healthcare business processes, organization, and workflows.
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills required, including the demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and complete deliverables.
  • Attention to detail with time management and organization skills, including attention to detail, clear documentation, diagnostic capabilities and problem-solving skills.
  • Expert analytical and project management skills, including the ability to analyze data and information, reach practical conclusions, recommend corrective actions, resolve conflicts, and institute effective changes.
  • Verbal and written communication skills with the ability to obtain relevant information and investigate sensitive facts.
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Office programs, including Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
  • Leverage vast detailed knowledge and familiarity with insurance concepts, policies, requirements, and best practices effectively.
  • Identify key concepts, factors, and risks based on conversations and surveys, and then document them in clear and concise narrative or graphic reports.
  • Work independently, as well as part of a multidisciplinary team, while demonstrating organization skills.
  • Identify and solve complex problems, generate actionable recommendations, and make informed decisions based on the analysis of multiple sources of information while providing new perspectives on existing solutions.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and ensure the privacy of each patient’s protected health information (PHI) as well as the confidentiality of all insurance and risk management data.
  • Build collaborative relationships with team members, peers, other departments, stakeholders, external agencies, and outside vendors.

Pay Range is $114,774.40 to $172,161.60 / annual salary

The compensation range may vary based on the geographic location where the position is filled. Total compensation considers multiple factors, including, but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure, certifications, departmental equity, training, and organizational needs. Base pay is only one component of Sutter Health’s comprehensive total rewards program. Eligible positions also include a comprehensive benefits package.
