Position Overview

We are seeking an organized, detail-oriented Insurance Specialist to support our patients and clinical team. This role handles insurance verification, benefit estimates, authorizations, and claims follow-up. The ideal candidate has dental or medical insurance experience, communicates clearly with patients, and is comfortable managing multiple cases at once. Oral surgery experience is strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Verify medical and dental insurance eligibility, benefits, and coverage before appointments
• Obtain required prior authorizations and referrals
• Prepare accurate treatment estimates and explain insurance benefits and expected patient costs
• Submit claims with the required documentation and follow up on unpaid or denied claims
• Review explanations of benefits, resolve claim discrepancies, and process appeals when needed
• Communicate with insurance carriers, patients, and team members to resolve coverage and billing questions
• Maintain accurate insurance information and notes in patient records
• Work closely with the clinical and front-office teams to support timely scheduling and a smooth patient experience
• Protect patient information and follow HIPAA requirements

Qualifications

• Previous dental or medical insurance experience required
• Experience with insurance verification, authorizations, claims, and denial follow-up
• Oral surgery insurance or billing experience strongly preferred
• Familiarity with both medical and dental benefits preferred
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage competing deadlines
• Clear, professional communication and patient-service skills
• Dependable and comfortable working in a fast-paced office
