Compensation: $115,000 – $175,000 base salary (OTE: $130,000 – $204,000 including bonuses)
We are hiring for one of our clients and are looking for a mid-level Insurance Defense / PI Litigation Associate to join a growing litigation team in Houston. This role is ideal for an attorney with strong insurance defense or personal injury litigation experience who can independently manage a litigation docket from day one. The position involves handling high-exposure catastrophic injury, product liability, and construction defect defense matters across Texas state and federal courts. You will work closely with paralegals and senior attorneys while maintaining significant autonomy and direct responsibility for your cases.
Independently manage a docket of insurance defense and personal injury litigation matters
Handle catastrophic injury, product liability, and construction defect defense cases
Defend and take fact witness, expert, and corporate representative depositions
Draft and respond to motions, pleadings, discovery requests, and discovery responses
Present oral arguments in hearings and court proceedings
Collaborate with paralegals and litigation support teams to build effective case strategies
Maintain accurate and timely billing and time-entry records
Manage cases in both Texas state and federal courts
Communicate effectively with clients, carriers, and opposing counsel
Active Texas State Bar license in good standing
2–6 years of insurance defense or personal injury litigation experience
Strong deposition experience, including fact witness, expert, and corporate representative depositions
Must meet a minimum billing requirement of 154 hours/month to maintain employment
Experience handling high-exposure litigation matters ($1M+ policy limits preferred)
Ability to independently manage a litigation docket
Strong legal writing, motion practice, and courtroom communication skills
Experience with discovery, hearings, and litigation strategy
Strong organizational and billing discipline
Comfortable working in a fast-paced insurance defense environment
Experience with product liability or construction defect litigation
Federal court litigation experience
Experience representing insurance carriers, oil & gas companies, or large corporate clients
$115,000–$175,000 base salary calibrated to experience and trial capability
Quarterly Tier Bonus: 10–15%+ of quarterly salary based on billable hours
$2,400/year time-entry bonus ($200/month for compliant months)
