About the Role:

Sigmoid is looking to board a Leader for our Insurance Consulting Practice who can bridge the gap between high-level strategy and granular operational reality. A true expert in the insurance space must understand the interconnectedness of insurance products, claims ecosystems, underwriting dynamics, customer journeys, regulatory requirements, and operational processes.

In this role, you will drive strategic initiatives, foster innovation, and provide visionary direction to our insurance practice with a strong focus on insurance analytics and AI-led transformation. The role requires a strong portfolio leader responsible for managing strategic accounts across new business development and account growth, while partnering with senior client stakeholders to define analytics use cases across Data Engineering, Data Science, Product Engineering, and Consulting.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Strong understanding of Insurance sub sectors operating model, value drivers and underlying mechanics
  • Insurance Operations - Ability to understand how core insurance functions interact across sales, enrollment, eligibility, underwriting, policy issuance, premium collection, claims processing, customer servicing, and renewal workflows.
  • Knowledge of Disability insurance (short and long term, wage replacement models and return to work customer journeys) preferred
  • In-depth knowledge of the data and process landscape within insurance organizations, including customer data, policy data, claims data, billing data, agent/broker data, operational data, and third-party data used for decision-making.
  • Good understanding on Life & Supplemental Benefits: group life, voluntary life, accident, critical illness, hospital indemnity, and related employee benefits products and Absence & Leave Management: leave intake, case management, compliance workflows, employee communication, and employer reporting.
  • The leader must be aware of the latest technologies used by insurance institutions across Data Engineering, Data Science, AI/ML, GenAI, workflow automation, and digital product platforms, and translate these capabilities into measurable business outcomes.
  • Drive cultural transformation and buy-in across business, operations, claims, actuarial, technology, and analytics teams, while helping clients adopt modern ways of working and partner effectively across enterprise silos.
  • Collaborate with sales, marketing, and business development teams to develop go-to-market strategies, identify key insurance clients, and drive new business opportunities in analytics, AI, and data transformation.
  • Work in a matrix environment to manage and deliver solutions, POVs, and transformation programs across multiple accounts, stakeholders, and regions.
  • Translate insurance business challenges into descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, prescriptive, and AI/ML-led solutions across claims, underwriting, customer operations, policy servicing, distribution, and absence management.
  • Stay abreast of emerging trends in employee benefits, disability and absence management, digital claims transformation, and data democratization, leveraging technology to define and deliver value to clients.
  • Monitor and analyze industry trends, regulatory changes, and competitive dynamics, adjusting strategy and offerings as needed.
  • Lead a diverse team of consultants and subject matter experts, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and execution excellence.
  • Partner with clients to understand their business challenges and opportunities, providing strategic guidance and innovative solutions.
  • Drive thought leadership initiatives, representing our company at industry events, conferences, and executive forums.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics or a related field; MBA preferred.
  • 10–15 years of experience in analytics consulting, insurance consulting, AI/ML transformation, or data-driven business consulting roles.
  • Strong domain exposure to the insurance sector, preferably in disability, life, supplemental benefits, or group insurance environments.
  • Proven track record of working with senior client stakeholders to shape strategic initiatives and analytics-led transformation programs.
  • Strong understanding of one or more areas such as Data Engineering, Data Science, AI/ML, digital product development, and consulting-led transformation.

Desired Skills:

  • Strong problem-solving, executive communication, workshop facilitation, and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Ability to connect business context with analytical approaches and convert business priorities into scalable transformation roadmaps.
  • Experience in delivery oversight, pre-sales, account growth, and global team collaboration is highly desirable.
  • Exposure to claims analytics, customer analytics, risk analytics, data platforms, and AI-led insurance transformation will be an advantage.
  • A self-starter who can work with minimal guidance and thrive in a fast-paced consulting environment.
  • Role involves extensive travel to client locations in the US; candidates with active B1 visa is preferrable
