EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Ag Economics, Ag Business, Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field or equivalent experience and two (2) years to five (5) years of related business experience.
  • Background or strong understanding of agricultural operations.
  • State of Texas Limited Lines or Property and Casualty Insurance License is required.
  • Performs a variety of intermediate-level, moderately complex administrative duties associated with the sale and administration of crop and multi-peril insurance in accordance with standard procedures.
  • Works closely with more experienced insurance staff and agents, relying on instructions and federal guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
  • Works closely with the Insurance Customer Service Manager to stay current on Federal Crop Insurance and Risk Management
  • Agency requirements. Works under moderate supervision with analysis, judgment and compliance with applicable regulations required.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Provides start to finish processing of information to generate a crop insurance policy for customers by collecting premiums, guiding customers through the process, obtaining appropriate signatures, and ensuring that all necessary data is in place for successful underwriting.
• Provides outstanding customer service for walk in crop insurance customers, answers telephone, directs calls and answers questions on customer issues.
• Supports the work of agents performing sales functions in the field by processing data gathered from their sale efforts and directing them as to further the requirements to complete their customer insurance needs.
• Collects data necessary to underwrite crop insurance policies within the requirements of Federal Crop Insurance and Risk Management Agency and performs data entry necessary to originate or maintain crop insurance policies.
• Communicates as required with FSA Office on required documents and communicates as required with customer as needed to gather appropriate data for their insurance needs.
• Maintains awareness of agricultural trends and business activity, Federal Crop Regulations, and legal obligations.
• Maintains required documentation according to retention requirements.
• Monitors and collects billings required under policies.
• Works with more senior staff to resolve questions and to grow knowledge of crop insurance processes.
• Attends trainings and continuing education as required to stay current with crop insurance regulations and requirements.
• Requires after-hours availability for Crop Hail and Livestock products.


REQUIRED SKILLS
• Skilled in oral and written communication; intermediate skill level in Microsoft Office applications
• Ability to perform all duties in a manner consistent with ethical standards and confidentiality requirements.
• Ability to reason, judge, compare, calculate, evaluate, and critique such information as written materials, numerical data, responses to customer needs and/or other work-related activities.
• Ability to complete work in an acceptable period; manage a variety of detailed tasks and responsibilities simultaneously and with accuracy to meet deadlines, goals, and objectives; satisfy internal and external customer needs related to the job.
• Ability to operate telephone equipment and respond to calls and in-person inquiries. Ability to use office equipment and computers, this involves reading the screen and keying/typing information.
• The ability to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as, preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, viewing a computer monitor and extensive reading.
• Moderate level of knowledge and expertise in underwriting multi-peril and crop-hail insurance policies.
• General knowledge of Association loan products.
