The Control Systems Engineer provides technical support for process control systems in complex processing facilities, with a primary focus on alarm management and alarm system performance improvement.

TheTopsides/Onshore Instrument & Controls (I&C) Systems Engineer is part of the Discipline Engineering Organization within the Chevron ENGINEcenterThis roleis responsible forthe engineering, design, and execution of onshore instrumentation and control systems for onshore facilities. This role ensures that field instrumentation and control systems used tomonitorand control equipment, processes, and facilities are properly specified, designed, integrated, and delivered in compliance with project requirements, applicable codes and standards, safetyobjectives, and lifecycle operability and maintainability goals.

Responsibilities

  • The scope includes measurement sensors, custody transfer systems,analyzers, final control elements, signal transmission systems, control processors, Human–Machine Interfaces (HMIs), Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), and Fire & Gas systems. The position interfaces closely with process, mechanical, electrical, and operations teams to support project delivery from early concept and FEED through detailed design, fabrication, installation, commissioning, and startup.

  • Accountable engineering design of onshore instrumentation and control systems for onshore facilities across project phases (concept, FEED, detailed design, execution).

  • Review instrumentation and control deliverables including P&IDs, instrument indexes, loop diagrams, logic diagrams, cause & effect charts, system architectures, and specifications

  • Specify, select, and integrate field instrumentation,analyzers, control valves, actuators, and packaged equipment instrumentationin accordance withproject and company standards.

  • Interface with process, mechanical, electrical, operations, and project teams to resolve design issues and ensure system integration.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, ChemicalEngineeringor a related engineering discipline from a deemed/recognized (AICTE) University

  • Demonstrated experience in instrumentation and control engineering for onshore or complex industrial facilities

  • Strong technical knowledge of field instrumentation, measurement systems,analyzers, and final control elements.

  • Experience with control system platforms (PLC, DCS, SCADA), HMIs, Safety Instrumented Systems, Fire & Gas systems, and Fire Fighting Systems (Delgue, CO2 Suppression, FM200, Water Mist etc.)

  • Experience with Telecommunications & Security systems including (CCTV, PAGA, Badge Access Systems etc.)

  • Strong knowledge of industry codes, standards, and engineering best practices applicable to onshore instrumentation and control systems.

  • Experience reviewing and managing engineering contractor deliverables andparticipatingin multidisciplinary design reviews

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10-15 years of experience in an I&C role with an owner operator or major engineering contractor

  • Experience supporting fabrication yards, onshore installation, commissioning, orstartupactivities

Chevron ENGINE supports global operations, supporting business requirements across the world. Accordingly, the work hours for employees will be aligned to support business requirements. The standard work week will be Monday to Friday. Working hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm or 1.30pm to 10.30pm.
