Job Description

Accountabilities:

  • Design and specify instrumentation and control systems for oil and gas production, processing, and transportation facilities.
  • Develop and review Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), logic diagrams, and instrument loop diagrams.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices in instrumentation and control engineering.
  • Program, configure, and troubleshoot PLCs and DCSs to optimize operational processes.
  • Specify and select instruments and control devices, including pressure, temperature, flow, and level sensors.
  • Oversee the installation, calibration, and testing of instrumentation and control systems.
  • Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure the reliability and accuracy of equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve malfunctions, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum productivity.
  • Implement advanced process control strategies to enhance efficiency and operational performance.
  • Integrate safety instrumented systems (SIS) to ensure compliance with safety integrity level (SIL) standards.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support hazard and operability (HAZOP) studies and risk assessments.
  • Prepare detailed technical documentation, including engineering reports, manuals, and operational guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate records of instrumentation systems, modifications, and upgrades.
  • Provide technical support during audits, inspections, and regulatory reviews.

    Professional Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in instrumentation and control engineering within the oil and gas industry, with upstream experience preferred.
  • Professional certification in Instrumentation and Control (e.g., ISA, TUV Functional Safety Engineer) is an advantage.
  • Proven experience with Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems.

    Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong knowledge of process instrumentation, sensors, actuators, and communication protocols (e.g., HART, MODBUS, FOUNDATION Fieldbus).
  • Proficiency in control system design, programming, and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with international standards such as IEC 61508, IEC 61511, and API guidelines, API 670.
  • Expertise in the use of simulation and modeling tools for system optimization.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong project management and organizational abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to adapt to dynamic work environments and manage multiple priorities.
