DAYS WORKED: Monday - Thursday
HOURS WORKED: 6:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

JOB DUTIES
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Works under the supervision of the Generation Superintendent and is directed by the Maintenance Working Foreman.
Performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled technical and maintenance work in the operation of generation units at the power plants.
Installs and repairs high voltage (up to and including 13.8 kv) electrical equipment associated with electric generation, including but not limited to:
Prepares and revises electrical drawings on equipment modifications, documents and maintains calibration records, and provides written reports on equipment repairs and malfunctions.
Performs all duties in compliance with safety and security rules, standard operating procedures, and labor agreement terms.
NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Serves as a member of various employee committees, as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
This position is subject to the City's Drug and Alcohol Free Workplace Program. This includes: pre-employment testing, post-accident testing, reasonable suspicion testing, return-to-duty testing, and follow-up testing.
Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
Extensive background checks required. Graduation from high school or GED equivalent and completion of an accredited electrical and instrumentation apprenticeship program, or a college accredited electrical and instrumentation degree program (2 year minimum), or other equivalent related experience may be considered.
Five (5) years of experience relating to electrical and instrumentation maintenance in a generation plant, process plant environment, or related Electric Utility experience is required.
Must have a telephone and be willing to be on 24-hour call; must be able to be at the Power Plant within thirty minutes after receiving a call.
Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally, in writing and electronically. Must be able to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
Must be able to direct the activities of Production Specialist/Apprentices who may be assisting with maintenance activities. Requires the ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with coworkers and supervisors.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED
The employee is required to use hand and power tools, electronic test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, other assorted equipment, and a motor vehicle.
The employee works on a variety of equipment including, but not limited to: Steam turbine- generators, and associated auxiliary equipment (boilers, pumps, compressors, valves, etc.), combustion turbine-generators and associated auxiliary equipment, and hydroelectric turbine-generators, and associated equipment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, extreme heat, and vibration.
