To maintain, operate, repair, and optimize control systems, instrumentation, and related mechanical components that ensure safe, efficient, and reliable mining operations.

Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

    • Safe achievement of maintenance tasks to support production performance.
    • Ensuring that work area is maintained to the required housekeeping standards.
    • All safety devices are operational and in use.
    • Conducts and participate in Risk assessments
    • Attending to breakdowns and emergencies as required.
    • Checklists and inspections are up to date and accurate.
    • Assessment of employee competency as required.
    • Maintenance of machinery and equipment.
    • Ensure that material, spares and equipment are available as required
    • Completing job cards and description of work and spares used (PM’s)
    • Take responsibility for the proper discipline of any subordinates.
    • Report any contraventions of the Mining (Management and Safety) Regulations, codes of practice, instructions, permissions, exemptions etc
    • Exercise judgment with regards to replacement of components
    • Applying appropriate tools to complete tasks
    • Timely and accurate information
    • Support, coach and participate in the training and development of subordinates and apprentices
    • Ensure proper and adequate on the job training and coaching is provided to subordinates
    • Install, calibrate, and maintain instrumentation equipment (sensors, transmitters, gauges, controllers).
    • Diagnose and repair faults in control systems and mechanical instrumentation.
    • Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on C&I equipment.
    • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and operational standards.
    • Support production teams by minimizing downtime through rapid fault-finding and repair.
    • Document maintenance activities, calibration records, and equipment performance.
    • Collaborate with engineers and electricians on system upgrades and modifications.

Qualifications

  • 5 'O' Levels subjects
  • Trade Test Certificate or equivalent qualification in Control & Instrumentation.

Experience, Knowledge and Skills

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in mining or heavy industrial environments.
  • Knowledge of PLCs, SCADA systems, and field instrumentation.
  • Knowledge of Solar systems is an added advantage.
