BUSINESS UNIT: Shafts

PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To safely design, install, fault find, repair and maintain instrumentation and IT equipment and infrastructure.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

• Grade 12 or NQF 4 Equivalent
• Instrumentation Trade Certificate
• Instrumentation National Diploma
• 2-3 Years Instrument Technician experience.
• 3 Years Instrumentation Mechanician experience within a mining environment.
• Experience in setting up Industrial IT networking.
• Siemens PRO1 and PRO2 Training completed. (Advantageous)
• Siemens Step7, TIA Portal Programming and IFix Scada competent. (Advantageous)

COMPETENCIES:

• Adheres to safety regulations and mine standards, procedures and practices and reports non-compliance.
• Participates in regular safety meetings and makes recommendations to ensure overall safety.
• Performs regular inspections in area of work and report hazards to ensure environment is safety and hazard free and recommends remedial action where necessary.
• Demonstrate knowledge pertaining to basic health and safety principles in the workplace.
• Demonstrate and understanding of the uses and safety aspects associated with flammable energy sources.
• Understand basic electrical and mechanical engineering principles.
• Understand basic electronic theory and components.
• Demonstrate and understanding of the Principles of Process Control Loops.
• Demonstrate and understanding of basic Programmable Logic Controllers.
• Demonstrate an understanding of the principles of installing Instrumentation Equipment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Conduct fault-finding according on process equipment using special testing equipment.
• Diagnoses faults and applies relevant remedy.
• Designs, compiles/converts PLC Software Programmes.
• Constructs and tests advanced electronic circuits.
• Installs equipment (Flow; Level; Pressure; Temperature; Analytical)
• Fault finds and repairs.
• Maintains equipment (Flow; Level; Pressure; temperature; Analytical)
• Installs and configures multi-user networked operating systems.
• Installs system software and application software to personal computers or handheld computers and peripherals.
• Installs and commissions local area computer Networks.
