Marathon Petroleum Company’s Kenai Refinery is seeking a highly motivated Instrument Technicianto join our team. Instrument Technicians are responsible for the maintenance and construction of instrument systems, devices, and peripheral equipment. Instrument Technicians are directly responsible for troubleshooting, problem identification, and repair of instruments used in the refinery process control.

Key Responsibilities

Instrument Technicians must have the ability to install, calibrate, troubleshoot, repair, and tune switches, regulators, control valves, transducers, positioners, transmitters, annunciators, and controllers and be able to read P+ID's and loop drawings. Other primary responsibilities include:

  • Install, calibrate, troubleshoot, and repair switches (level, pressure, temperature, and flow).
  • Install, troubleshoot, and repair control valves and regulators.
  • Install, calibrate, troubleshoot and repair transducers and valve positioners, electronic and pneumatic transmitters.
  • Troubleshoot and repair annunciator systems.
  • Install, calibrate, troubleshoot, repair, and tune electronic and pneumatic controls and programmable controllers.
  • Interfaces with operators for working in their units, with the warehouse for withdrawal of parts, other maintenance shops as required, as well as with the lab personnel and Process Engineers.
  • Other duties as assigned

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Three (3) years of instrument experience in a petrochemical environment.
  • Associates degree of applied science in Instrumentation or equivalent certificate in the instrumentation trade.
  • Or (5) years On the Job instrumentation experience.
