Job Description

Maintain, repair, and test microprocessor based electronic instrumentation and/or perform a variety of manufacturing tasks to assemble, fill, package and inspect products as needed. Assist, instruct and monitor assigned tasks of other personnel. Provide training and guidance to other personnel as needed.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in the timely creation and implementation of procedures and documentation to support existing and new products and/or equipment for manufacturing and service operations.
  • Responsible for the execution and/or implementation of equipment preventative maintenance program as well as troubleshoot, diagnose and repair malfunctioning product.
  • Cross trained on multiple product lines.
  • May perform as line lead or as a technical resource for other assigned personnel.
  • Identify and communicate safety concerns to immediate supervisor.
  • Perform prescribed general maintenance of equipment in assigned work centers.
  • Assemble and test new or modified electrical, electro-mechanical, and mechanical components or assemblies across the product lines.
  • Set up and conduct tests of complete units and components under operational conditions to ensure compliance with previously documented specifications.
  • Record test procedures and results on PC, utilizing spreadsheet tools to archive numerical and graphical data, and make recommendations for changes in product or test method.
  • Perform a variety of manufacturing tasks to assemble, package, and inspect products as needed.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent preferred

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to complete work tasks with sufficient verbal or written instructions
  • Aptitude for electro-mechanical maintenance and repair
  • Basic math skills and ability to work with units of measure, whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent; and draw and interpret bar graphs
  • Ability to communicate with team-members and internal customers regarding equipment operation
  • Ability to write reports and correspondence
  • Ability to work independently in the absence of a supervisor
  • Ability to identify concerns and make decisions in process and safety
  • Basic computer skills; Microsoft Office experience preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Regularly required to stand and sit for extended periods; extend and reach with hands and arms; and use hands and fingers to handle, squeeze, twist and manipulate objects, controls and tools.
  • Regularly perform repetitive manual and automated assembly operations
  • Occasionally required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel or crouch.
  • Frequently required to lift, move and carry up to 50 pounds and to push/pull pallet jacks and carts.
  • Specific vision abilities required may include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Frequently works near moving mechanical parts; frequently exposed to risk of electric shock; and occasionally exposed to vibration and lasers.
  • May work with various types of repair and test equipment.
  • Personal protective equipment and/or clothing required.
  • Low to moderate noise level.

LEVELING GUIDE:

  • Flexible team player with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Perform a variety of advanced manufacturing, triage and repair tasks in support of the day-to-day operations.
  • Responsible for moderate to advanced tasks in one or more work-centers. May help develop criteria or provide cross-training in other work-centers.
  • Proficient with some or all area lab equipment, solutions and reagents. May train others and is familiar with the required maintenance and calibration for the equipment.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment. May assist with area audits or support and may advise on technical corrections to audit findings.
  • Completes tasks independently while meeting or exceeding area productivity standards. Can identify and assist in related continuous improvement activities to impact.
  • Record information in product documentation in "real time". May maintain quality records, spreadsheets and other forms of tracking in one or more work centers.
  • Read and follow SOP’s, work instructions and equipment manuals. Is able to identify process improvements and may assist in providing document mark ups and executing process changes.
  • May assist all set-up operation, clean-up, and/or change-over for manufacturing and repair equipment in the work center. May assist in developing new processes as needed.
  • Support and participate in 5S, ISO, and other company programs as needed. Able to facilitate related projects and tasks with one or more peers.
  • May provide moderate to advanced training to other employees.
  • Self directed and completes assignments with little supervision. Solves problems as part of a team and can facilitate and provide technical leadership as appropriate.
  • Moderate to advanced computer skills, IDEXX systems and MS Office proficiency preferred.
  • Has latitude for independent judgment and able to provide guidance and mentor other employees as needed.
  • Typically up to 3-5 years production, repair and/or manufacturing experience
