Provides critical support in the sourcing, purchasing, tracking, and provisioning of surgical instruments.

Experience

  • 4 years of experience in surgical services area with relevant sterile processing and instrument maintenance experience

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent

Certification Summary

  • Sterile Processing Certification or Certified Surgical Technologist (CST), within 365 days of hire

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Good computer skills
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Working knowledge of surgical instruments

Job Responsibilities

  • Researches instrument requests for replacements and provides substitution suggestions, and completes value analysis submissions for new instruments.
  • Coordinates vendor visits and education.
  • Maintains accurate files and data on all instruments purchased.
  • Orders, receives, and coordinates all instruments, including loaner trays and consigned items, including updating of instrument tracking software.
  • Works with surgeons, service line coordinators, and technologists to assess inventory instrument needs and proactively orders frequently needed replacement instruments to have on hand.
  • Assembles accurate and complete surgical trays.
  • Inputs instrument and tray products into instrument tracking system.
  • Contributes to opportunity for improvement identification and process improvement within the Sterile Processing department.
