The Aga Khan University invites applications for the position of Instructor (Research) in the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health.

Job Role / Responsibilities:

• Support faculty in planning and conducting genomics and bioinformatics research projects

• Analyze sequencing data (whole genome/exome), including quality control, alignment, and variant interpretation

• Develop and optimize data analysis pipelines and workflows

• Conduct literature reviews and stay updated with advancements in genomics and bioinformatics

• Contribute to research protocols, data management strategies, and project documentation

• Assist in manuscript writing, grant proposals, and scientific reporting

• Collaborate with laboratory and IT teams for secure data handling

• Participate in training sessions and capacity-building activities

• Perform any other tasks assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

• Master’s or PhD in Genetics, Bioinformatics, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, or a related field

• Preferably 1–2 years of relevant experience in genomics data analysis

• Experience with Linux/Unix, R, Python, or similar tools

• Familiarity with bioinformatics tools such as GATK, PICARD, ANNOVAR, or equivalent

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Good scientific writing and communication skills

• Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams

• Willingness to contribute to academic and training activities.
