
The Department of World Languages and Cultures in the College of Arts and Sciences at American University invites applications for a term faculty appointment for Academic Year 2017-2018. Rank will be dependent on experience and stature in the field. The appointment is a 9-month term position and will commence on August 28, 2017.
Applicants should minimally hold an MA in Spanish or a related field, with PhD preferred. Ideal applicants will have a PhD in Translation and/or extensive professional experience as a translator. All applicants must have either native or near native fluency in both English and Spanish, and should be qualified to translate and teach translation in both directions. The position will require the incumbent to teach six courses per year in Spanish, including, but not limited to courses in Translation and Spanish language. All faculty are expected to hold office hours and participate in School and University activities and service.
