The Department of World Languages and Cultures in the College of Arts and Sciences at American University invites applications for a term faculty appointment for Academic Year 2017-2018. Rank will be dependent on experience and stature in the field. The appointment is a one year term position and will commence on August 28, 2017.

Applicants should hold a PhD or other terminal degree in German, German Linguistics, or a related field, and must have native speaker or near native fluency in German. Ability to teach another of the languages offered by the Department (in particular, Spanish, French, Japanese, Chinese, Arabic, Russian, or Italian), while not required, is a plus. The position will require the incumbent to teach three undergraduate courses per semester in German, with a focus on Elementary, Intermediate, and Advanced German. All faculty are expected to hold office hours and participate in School and University activities and service.
