Job Description

The Division of Bariatric Surgery at the University of Rochester seeks a full-time member to join the medical education and training program at the Instructor level in the subspeciality of bariatric surgery for a one year term. The curriculum of this one year clinical fellowship provides educational and development resources for proficiency in the diagnosis and treatment of metabolic disease as well as abdominal/GI pathology. The program will be based at Highland Hospital, an affiliate of URMC.

The City of Rochester is a mecca for the arts: home to a philharmonic orchestra, wonderful museums including the Strong National Museum of Play, internationally recognized dance companies as well as The Eastman School of Music. The Rochester International Jazz Festival is one of the top 10 Jazz festivals in the nation. The region boasts access to great watersports both on Lake Ontario as well as the Finger Lakes. The Finger Lakes region is also home to many internationally known wineries. Rochester has a rich history and was the last step on the underground railroad and the place Frederick Douglas called home.

Qualifications

Candidates must have completed medical school receiving an MD or equivalent and completed a full surgical training residency program. Must be eligible for a NYS medical license or NYS limited permit.

Our program participates in the fellowship council match. International fellows are expected to submit a personal statement of educational objectives which documents the training program application to their home country.

The referenced pay range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the base range of compensation for this faculty position. Individual salaries will be determined within the job’s salary range and established based on (but not limited to) market data, experience and expertise of the individual, and with consideration to related position salaries. Alignment of clinical incentive-based compensation may also be applicable and will be discussed during the hiring process
