NOTICE - All posted positions are subject to budget approval.

This eleven-month appointment involves teaching undergraduate nursing courses in both didactic and clinical settings, commensurate with the candidate's education and expertise. Responsibilities include classroom instruction, facilitation of simulation experiences, and supervision of 8 to 12-hour clinical groups. Clinical groups will usually meet at 6 am.

Work Performed:

  • Teach undergraduate nursing courses, both theory and clinical.
  • Utilize the online learning management system, WTClass, for which training is provided.
  • Advise students currently in the undergraduate nursing program.
  • Serve on departmental committees and University committees (if elected).
  • Attend monthly Faculty/Staff Organization Committee meetings.
  • Demonstrate productivity in scholarly activity, if hired in a tenure-track position, for which a doctoral degree is required.
  • Ability to work day shift, evening shift, and/or 12-hour shift in local hospitals.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Necessary Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Nursing or minimum of 18 hours earned toward MSN.
  • Current unencumbered RN license in Texas, or eligibility for Texas licensure.
  • Ability to teach a variety of undergraduate nursing courses, including assignments on morning, evening, and/or 12-hour clinical shifts.
  • Ability to develop instructional materials and contribute to course development.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a member of the School of Nursing faculty team.
  • Applicants holding a doctoral degree may be eligible for consideration for an Assistant Professor, tenure-track position.
  • Tenure-track faculty are expected to demonstrate ongoing scholarly productivity.
  • Eligibility to meet the requirements for Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) certification.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience facilitating high- and low-fidelity simulation, developing simulation scenarios, conducting debriefings, and teaching in skills laboratories is preferred.
