Job Description

Middlebury’s Betty Ashbury Jones MA ’86 School of French (SoF) is pleased to announce a vacancy for a temporary Instructor of French. The position is available for SoF’s summer 2020 session and is located on the Middlebury College campus in Vermont. Program dates as currently established are June 25 to August 15, 2020. (Dates subject to minor changes).

Our unique 7-week program combines a cultural immersion environment with rigorous daily classroom instruction. This is an opportunity to join a vibrant community of learners and entails actively engaging in teaching, dining, residing and even recreation with students while reading, writing and speaking exclusively in French.

In addition to salary, lodging and a complete meal plan are provided. Travel costs to and from Middlebury are not included.

Qualifications

We seek a faculty member who can contribute to our program by offering French as a Second Language classes for the undergraduate curriculum. The successful candidate possesses, at a minimum, a Masters degree or its equivalent and substantial experience in teaching French as a Second Language in higher education, preferably both in a Francophone setting and in North America. We seek an instructor with demonstrated teaching excellence in French as a foreign language, native or near-native fluency in French, strong interpersonal and collaborative competencies and demonstrated success as a member of an instructional team. All instructors lead co-curricular activities that are an integral part of the language curriculum. A candidate with a creative, dynamic, and engaging approach will be an excellent fit for the program.
