Department Overview

The appointee shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the university's missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service. The Instructor delivers care aligned with a defined scope of practice in Department of Neurology, Division of Movement Disorders clinical setting/service, with work expectations operationalized through departmental workflows, productivity standards, and performance expectations consistent with the collective bargaining agreement (CBA) and institutional policies.

Function/Duties of Position

Clinical Activities (not assigned administrative, education, or research FTE):Direct patient care :For patients in the OHSU movement disorder specialty. Providing patient assessments, examination, and diagnosis; working collaboratively with physicians and seeing direction and advice on complex issues; prescribe medications and treatment modalities; develop treatment plans and actualize them with Movement Disorder team and staff, device data interpretation, Educate patients and empower them to participate in treatment plans.• In-person ambulatory visits and procedures• Virtual visits (phone/video)• Scheduled telephone visits • Clinical coverage requirement - none• Department specific activities: Participate in team conferences including patient clinical and surgical case discussions.Indirect • Clinical support and coordination including EPIC in-basket management, EPIC documentation, visit preparation and planning, care coordination across teams and settings, coverage for colleagues on leave and vacancies• Payer and access work including referral medical review and triage, denial reviews, prior authorization support, peer-to-peer consults with payers, medical necessity documentation, FMLA/leave/disability forms• Clinical Citizenship including clinic huddles, practice and department meetings, trainings, process improvement initiatives, contributing to accreditation efforts, quality & safety – PSI review & consultation, quality improvement committees/efforts• Educate patients and empower them to participate in treatment plans.• Department specific activities: TBD

Required Qualifications

Registrations, Certifications and/or Licenses:

• ​​Current RN and APRN licensure with the Oregon Board of Nursing
• ​Current national certification in the area of specialization
• ​Current BLS or ACLS
• ​Certification as indicated for the position
• ​DEA Certification

• ​Current PA licensure with the Oregon Medical Board
• ​Current NCCPA Certification
• ​Current BLS or ACLS
• ​DEA Certification

​​ Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic reasoning, and patient management skills in an outpatient setting
• ​Ability to prioritize, organize, and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
• ​Effective communication skills, including clear, concise, and professional interaction with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams
• ​Ability to collaborate across disciplines and contribute to coordinated, team-based care
• ​Sound clinical judgment and decision-making, including the ability to recognize and respond to clinical deterioration
• ​Proficiency in documentation and use of electronic health record (EHR) systems
• ​Ability to adapt to changing clinical demands, workflows, and patient volumes
• ​Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety and quality care
• ​Ability to provide education to patients, families, and learners (e.g., students, trainees, new APPs)
• ​Demonstrated professionalism, accountability, and reliability in meeting responsibilities and deadlines
• ​Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion in handling sensitive information
• Commitment to continuous learning and adherence to institutional policies, standards, and evidence-based practice
