Job Roles / Responsibilities:

Instructor, in Clinical Genomics plays a critical role in integrating genomic science into clinical practice through education, clinical service, and research. This position is designed for a highly motivated individual with basic expertise in medical genetics, molecular diagnostics, and teaching. The instructor will work in a multidisciplinary environment, contributing to the interpretation of genomic data for patient care, educating students and trainees, and advancing the field through research and clinical innovation.

The ideal candidate must possess a basic knowledge in clinical genomics, demonstrate excellent communication skills, and have a commitment to high-quality patient care and academic excellence. This role involves direct collaboration with clinical laboratories, healthcare providers, and academic programs to enhance precision medicine initiatives.

The candidate will be responsible to:

  • Deliver high-quality support to clinical teams with genomic test interpretation and patient-focused recommendations.
  • Participate in the interpretation and reporting of clinical genomic tests (e.g., whole exome sequencing, gene panels, NGS) that support clinical decision-making in patient care.
  • Competence in interpreting genetic variants and clinical relevance.
  • Communicate complex genomic results in a clear and clinically meaningful way.
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory quality standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., CLIA, CAP).
  • Develop and deliver lectures, seminars, and lab sessions on topics in clinical genomics, genetic testing, and molecular diagnostics.
  • Contribute to cutting-edge research and maintain involvement in scholarly publications in peer-reviewed journals within the field of genomics.
  • Stay updated on advancements in genomics to incorporate new knowledge into teaching materials.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate genomic data into clinical practice.
  • Seek funding through grants or collaborative research opportunities.
  • Assist in validating genomic testing protocols and maintaining quality standards.
  • Participate in internal and external proficiency testing and audits.
  • Coordinate with genetic counselors, pathologists, and other clinicians to integrate genomic data into patient management.

Requirements:

ACADEMIC & PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS / TRAINING & WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • MBBS, from a recognized institution.
  • Four years of residency training in Paediatrics
  • FCPS II, Paediatric.

KNOWLEDGE AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Ability to work with a multidisciplinary team to provide genomic consultation and support for patient care
