Instructor - Dental Hygiene - School of DentistryThe UMMC School of Dentistry is seeking a dedicated and qualified individual for an open rank faculty position in the Dental Hygiene Department. This faculty role involves maintaining the highest academic standards, supporting student success, and contributing to the ongoing development and delivery of the Dental Hygiene curriculum. The ideal candidate will be committed to excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service, aligning with the mission and values of UMMC.
Department Overview
The Department of Dental Hygiene focuses on excellence in clinical education at the baccalaureate degree level. The Department operates undergraduate education and clinical training venues within the School of Dentistry.
Education and Experience Required:
Bachelor's degree in dental hygiene from a CODA-accredited dental program or an equivalent foreign degree
Certifications, Licenses or Registration Required:
Current MS Dental Hygiene license or must be obtained post-hire within 90 days
Preferred Qualifications:
• Master’s degree
• Experience in the didactic and/or clinical instruction of dental students
• Active involvement in professional organizations
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Proven experience working in the dental hygiene field. Demonstrated skills in both traditional classroom teaching and online learning environments. Ability to interpret and use student learning outcome data to enhance teaching and learning. Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues. Knowledge of current trends in the dental hygiene field and a commitment to remaining informed of advancements in the field. Proficiency in word processing programs and internet applications. Commitment to the School of Dentistry’s mission of excellence in patient care, teaching, research, and service.
