The Department of Laboratory Sciences within the College of Health Professions at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) is seeking a full-time, 12-month faculty member for the Medical Laboratory Sciences (MLS) Program. This position supports the delivery of high-quality educational experiences through teaching, clinical coordination, student recruitment, program assessment, accreditation activities, and scholarly engagement. Academic rank and tenure status will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Bachelor's degree in Science, Education, Health-Related Field, Management, or a related discipline from an accredited institution. Candidates with a bachelor's degree must be willing to pursue a master's degree in education or a health-related discipline.
Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Technologist (MT) through the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).
Minimum of three (3) years of experience performing high-complexity laboratory testing as a generalist, including experience across all major laboratory disciplines.
Strong communication, organizational, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to travel regularly to clinical affiliates and recruitment events.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in Science, Education, or a Health-Related Field from an accredited institution.
Experience teaching in classroom, online, and/or clinical settings.
Experience leading teams, managing programs, or supervising personnel.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of medical laboratory science principles, practices, and accreditation standards.
Ability to effectively teach and mentor diverse student populations.
Strong organizational and project management skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, clinical partners, and students.
Proficiency in educational technologies and online learning platforms.
Ability to contribute to program assessment, curriculum development, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
Commitment to professional growth, scholarship, and student success.
Additional Information:
Responsibilities
Coordinate, develop, and evaluate clinical education experiences for Medical Laboratory Sciences students.
Design, deliver, and assess didactic coursework in areas of content expertise.
Serve as backup instructional faculty across multiple MLS content areas for the on-campus program.
Support online MLS program operations in collaboration with program leadership.
Serve as a recruitment liaison for the College of Health Professions and participate in student recruitment activities.
Participate in curriculum development, program assessment, strategic planning, and implementation efforts.
Engage in scholarly activities, research, and professional development appropriate to faculty rank.
Participate in university, college, and departmental service activities.
Assist with accreditation-related activities, including self-studies, reports, and site visits.
Maintain current Medical Laboratory Scientist certification.
Collaborate with faculty through co-teaching and other instructional support activities as assigned.
