Job Summary
| The Martha Bradley Evans Center for Teaching Excellence ( MBECTE) at the University of Utah is hiring a full-time Instructional Consultant with expertise in supporting evidence-based teaching practices that foster student success and reduce barriers to learning. The ideal candidate will
have experience in student success initiatives, higher education instruction, and have the skills and flexibility to contribute to a wide array of
Faculty development programming.


Responsibilities
Essential Functions
1. Support MBECTE’s role in broad university student success initiatives (e.g., Accessibility, Durable Skills, Reduce high- DEWI
courses, etc.)
2. Promote teaching excellence through faculty development, innovation, and recognition.
3. Consult with faculty members on pedagogy issues (e.g., teaching techniques, curriculum development, educational technology)
4. Develop and implement assessments to measure appropriateness and effectiveness of course content, materials, and teaching activities,
events, programs, and technologies.
5. Plan and host small and large pedagogical seminars, workshops, and/or conferences
6. Develop and/or oversee assigned MBECTE programs and projects
7. Teach and enhance various MBECTE-sponsored courses (e.g., CTLE 6000/6510/6200)
8. Develop and/or support interdepartmental and/or interdisciplinary projects
9. Provide support for various MBECTE programs, events, and team members to create a positive and professional work environment
10. Collaborate closely with MBECTE and various campus departments
11. Other MBECTE duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications
Graduate degree in Education, related field, or equivalency plus 2-4 years experience, preferably in a higher education setting; knowledge of learning theory with the ability to apply the theory into practice; excellent verbal communication skills; familiarity with a variety of software, such as
as Adobe products, Microsoft Office, generative AI, and learning management systems; strong technical writing skills; ability to work both individually and in a team setting.

Reports to: Director, Martha Bradley Evans Center for Teaching Excellence

Minimum Qualifications:
1. Master’s degree in Education, Instructional Design, or a related field.
2. Experience in higher education faculty development or instructional support.
3. Strong organizational and project management skills.
4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
5. Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty and staff at all levels.


Preferences
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Doctorate in Education or a related field.
2. Experience teaching in higher education
