POSITION SUMMARY:
Providing technical support to all departments, the instructional technology coordinator will work directly with staff, helping to troubleshoot and resolve any hardware or software-related issues. Additionally, the coordinator contributes to UVA’s online education mission by collaborating with the technology department to provide staff with ongoing technical training. The Instructional Technology Coordinator will follow all applicable laws, guidelines, and UVA policies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Train staff during onboarding.
- Support in-person state testing, including but not limited to:
- - Create sections in counselor courses indicating students who are testing
- - Liaise between the technical/programming team and testing to ensure timely setup
- - Available during testing days for technical support
- Assist with setting up and enrollment in virtual training courses
- Provide technical support for synchronous training that requires the use of technology
- Assist teachers with technical issues or questions about Canvas or other purchased programs, fulfilling requests for data-specific robocalls/messages, Canvas/Jcampus data-specific requests from administration or counseling, enrollments that do not come from JCampus (clubs, summer school, remediation, etc.)
- Work with school-level administration to create and manage grade and subject-level Templates and Blueprint courses in Canvas.
- Provide technical support for truancy reports (verifying data as requested, working with programmers on any errors that arise in reports)
- Manipulate and combine data sets via Google Sheets/Microsoft Excel.
- Spot-check work completed by yourself or others as requested/needed to ensure accuracy.
- Provide/lead/organize professional development regarding technology (hardware, best practices, and platforms) for faculty members and students as needed. It may be additionally requested that PD be delivered externally at conferences.
- - Specifically responsible for ensuring that the virtual beginning of the year PD is set up properly for teachers and that student training is updated and delivered to students on time.
- Liaise between technology and other departments. Collaborate with technology team members to identify project feasibility, anticipated timelines, and any research/testing that may be needed.
- Participate in ongoing learning, including attendance at webinars about digital learning, technology updates/best practices, and state department technology meetings.
- Oversee Student & Staff ID Badge Rollout. Ensure all supplies are kept up-to-date, and staff are trained on printing machines.
- Troubleshoot and assist with non-programmatic technical tasks. Help to provide non-programmatic solutions for problems that arise.
- Maintain Knowledge Base with updated procedures and tutorials.
- Manage support tickets and resolve issues in a timely manner.
- Communicate with vendor support, as needed, to ensure all platforms are properly functioning.
- Participate in departmental meetings, attend professional development workshops, and assist with the operation of technology used during school events.
- Work under all applicable laws, guidelines, and UVA policies and procedures.
- Travels occasionally to support statewide mandated test administration and to participate in student-sponsored events.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
