Position: Instructional Paraprofessional (Anticipated)

Location: Sussex Technical High School

Reports To: Principal

Starting Date: Mutually agreeable

Qualifications:

• Eligible for Delaware Paraprofessional Instructional Permit using one of the three options:

  • High School Diploma and passing grade on Paraprofessional Assessment

    OR

  • Completed at least two years of study at an institution of higher learning and accumulating at least 60 credits

    OR

  • Associate's degree or higher

• Prior experience working with high school aged students preferred.

Performance Responsibilities:

• Supports all teachers/supervisors as assigned.

• Supports the teacher to ensure that the classroom and lab areas are safe environments for students.

• Works with students who receive special education services and is sensitive to the specialized needs of these students.

• Assists teachers in the classroom and lab areas with the delivery of curriculum, instruction, and assessment.

• Assists in a variety of instructional activities with an individual or groups of students as assigned.

• Assists in supervising and monitoring students in the classroom including responding to student behavioral needs in ways which are appropriate and respectful to the student.

• Exhibits excellent organizational skills to support the classroom.

• Other duties as assigned.

Terms of Employment: Full-time employment / 10-month contract

Salary and Benefits: $36,847/year - $53,562/year
