The starting salary range falls within the minimum to mid-point of the salary range.
Starting Salary Range: $70,856 - $88,570
The Instructional Designer, Learning Experience, reporting to the Manager, Learning Experience, leads the design and development of end-to-end learning solutions for complex and organization-wide initiatives supporting learners. Acting as a learning consultant, the role partners with business analysts, project managers, subject matter experts, team leaders, and other stakeholders to identify knowledge and performance gaps, clarify and curate content, establish learning objectives, and recommend effective learning approaches grounded in adult learning principles, instructional design best practices, accessibility, and the needs of diverse audiences. A key focus of the role is developing learning solutions that enable the successful adoption of new and enhanced technologies, business processes, and workflows. The Instructional Designer also contributes to continuous improvements of the team’s instructional design practices by identifying opportunities to enhance development processes, templates, standards, and ways of working to improve quality, consistency, and efficiency.
The Instructional Designer manages learning deliverables from discovery and analysis through design, development, launch, and evaluation, establishing clear project plans, timelines, and measures of success while proactively communicating recommendations, progress, risks, and decisions. The role facilitates discussions with stakeholders to validate learning requirements, navigate differing perspectives, and influence decisions through instructional design expertise, evidence-informed recommendations, and consideration of learner and organizational impacts. In partnership with the Employee Programs team, the role also provides expertise and develops resources that enhance broader learning and development initiatives. Following implementation, the Instructional Designer evaluates learning effectiveness using learner feedback, stakeholder input, adoption measures, and available data, and continuously refines learning approaches and resources to enhance learner engagement, accessibility, knowledge retention, and practical application.

We are governed by physician members who are elected annually to the Board of Directors. Our President serves as primary spokesperson. In addition, Doctors of BC members contribute to over 60 committees that advocate for issues of importance to physicians, and to the citizens of BC.
