Job Description



The Instructional Designer III leads the end-to-end design and development of enterprise learning support solutions that are instructionally sound, accessible, and aligned to business outcomes. This role functions as an organizational subject matter expert and consultant for learning best practices through conducting needs and performance analysis, recommending the right intervention (training and non-training solutions), and advising stakeholders on effective, scalable approaches. Success in this role includes measurable impact by partnering with stakeholders to define success metrics, strengthen learning standards and reusable assets, and continuously improve learning solutions based on evidence and feedback.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead end-to-end instructional design for complex enterprise learning solutions (digital, virtual, blended, microlearning, and performance support), from intake through launch and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct audience and performance needs analysis; define measurable objectives, success metrics, and evaluation approach aligned to business outcomes.
  • Design and develop instructionally sound learning assets and reinforcement resources (e.g., storyboards, scripts, eLearning, facilitator and participant materials, assessments, job aids, and manager toolkits) using approved tools and standards.
  • Design workflow learning/performance support to drive on-the-job application (e.g., checklists, decision tools, conversation guides, scenarios, reinforcement plans).
  • Use approved AI tools and rapid design methods to accelerate analysis and prototyping; validate outputs, iterate with stakeholders, and ensure quality prior to release.
  • Apply accessibility and inclusive design practices (WCAG-aligned/UDL concepts) and conduct quality review for clarity, bias-aware language, and learner experience.
  • Apply learning experience and visual design principles to create clear, intuitive, and engaging learner experiences; evaluates layouts, media, interaction patterns, and cognitive load to improve usability and impact.
  • Enable learning consistency and stakeholder understanding by providing standards, templates, and best-practice guidance; facilitate alignment on learning objectives, modality, review cycles, and quality criteria across initiatives.
  • Serve as an organizational consultant/SME for learning best practices, facilitating discovery, advising leaders/SMEs, and recommending the right intervention (training and non-training solutions).
  • Manage multiple projects and priorities; estimate effort, maintain documentation/version control, and meet deadlines in a regulated environment.
  • Perform any other job related duties as requested.


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in instructional design, education, learning sciences, communications, or related field is required
  • Equivalent years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of required education
  • Seven (7) years training and development experience working with various levels of organization, to include five (5) years of curriculum development experience is required
  • Experience using authoring and content creation tools including to but not limited to Storyline & Rise, Camtasia, Vyond, Adobe Creative Suite. required
  • Experience independently leading complex learning projects and consulting with stakeholders across multiple levels of the organization preferred

Competencies, Knowledge and Skills:

  • Learning strategy & performance consulting: adult learning and instructional design expertise; root-cause analysis; ability to recommend training and non-training interventions; consulting presence with senior stakeholders.
  • Solution design & development: designing and developing digital, virtual, blended, and performance support solutions with strong attention to learner experience, visual clarity, interaction design, and instructional flow.
  • Learning experience and visual design expertise: ability to apply visual design, usability, and cognitive load principles to create clear, intuitive, and engaging learning experiences; evaluates layout, media, interaction patterns, and learner flow to improve effectiveness and usability.
  • AI-enabled design: prompt writing and iterative drafting with approved AI tools; verification of accuracy; bias/accessibility review; documentation/disclosure as required; compliance with privacy/data-handling rules.
  • Accessibility & inclusive design: WCAG‑aligned practices and UDL concepts; ability to review learning assets for accessibility, readability, inclusive language, visual clarity, and overall learner experience.
  • Measurement & continuous improvement: define success metrics; analyze feedback and available learning data; partner to evaluate application/impact where feasible; use insights to improve solutions.
  • Execution & influence: project management, prioritization, and quality standards; strong written/verbal communication; facilitation of working sessions; ability to influence without authority.
  • Tools & ecosystem knowledge: proficiency with authoring/media tools and templates; working knowledge of LMS/LXP constraints to design compatible experiences; partners with Learning Technology teams for publishing/support.

Licensure and Certification:

  • Minimum of one learning industry design certification preferred
  • Certification or training in accessibility/inclusive design practices preferred. preferred

Working Conditions:

  • General office environment; may be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time
  • Travel is not typically required

Compensation Range:

$72,200.00 - $115,500.00

CareSource takes into consideration a combination of a candidate’s education, training, and experience as well as the position’s scope and complexity, the discretion and latitude required for the role, and other external and internal data when establishing a salary level. In addition to base compensation, you may qualify for a bonus tied to company and individual performance.
